The Chase Freedom Flex℠ is another card that always has a home in our wallets. While technically a cash back card, this card actually earns our favorite points, Chase Ultimate Rewards®. If you have a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Chase Sapphire Reserve®, or Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, you can move the points from your Freedom Flex to that card and then transfer the points to airline and hotel partners.
This card has the potential to earn you a nice chunk of Ultimate Rewards each year thanks to quarterly rotating bonus categories. In the past, categories have included things like gas stations, PayPal®, wholesale clubs, and more. You’ll earn 5% on the selected categories on the first $1,500 of spending each quarter with a max of 7,500 points per quarter. You must activate your bonus earnings each quarter. Additionally, you’ll earn 5% back when you use your card to book travel via Chase Travel℠, 3% back at restaurants and on drugstore purchases, and 1% back on all other purchases.
When you charge your wireless phone bill to your Freedom Flex card, you’ll be entitled to up to $800 per claim and $1,000 per year in cell phone protection against covered damage or theft. There is a maximum of 2 claims per 12 months and a $50 deductible per claim.
