Recently, we talked about Avianca LifeMiles and the reward programs that transfer to them, Citi ThankYou Points and Capital One Venture Miles. We also went over how to do those transfers. Today, let’s talk about four trips you can book with Avianca LifeMiles.
One of my favorite girl’s trips was to Amsterdam. Seriously, the nicest people and most beautiful settings. I randomly picked one date, and an award booking showed up from Denver to Amsterdam for only 25.5K LifeMiles. This is almost 5K cheaper than booking the same United flight on the United site. It is also on the same airline. It’s crazy how that works sometimes.
For only 51,000 points transferred to Avianca LifeMiles, I can travel roundtrip to the beautiful city of Amsterdam!
Let’s see about booking a flight to Honolulu from Los Angeles. I even found a direct flight for only 15K LifeMiles one way, and it’s in the summertime—prime time to boot! Amazing!
Checking out a Waikiki sunset for only 30K points/miles sounds like a bargain to me!
London is a major destination dream for a lot of our readers. The nice thing about a trip to London is that you can also visit more of Europe from there. Take the Chunnel to Paris, take a cheap flight to Italy, or drive to Scotland – it’s all doable from London! Let’s check out Chicago to London:
One of our favorite destinations is Greece. Let’s go from Washington D.C. to Athens on this flight. The flight will actually be on Lufthansa which can pass on heavy surcharges sometimes but not when you book this way! I love the idea of going to Greece on trips with Avianca LifeMiles. We can even see a 63K one-way option in business class!
Booking trips with Avianca LifeMiles offers some cheaper redemptions and sometimes more options than going through the usual U.S. airlines. You might want to look first with Avianca, especially for economy class flights. Avianca LifeMiles, Citi ThankYou Points, and Capital One Venture Miles might be able to make it happen if you can dream it!

Would this work for Germany too? We have over 150k capital one rewards and will get the Citi bonus as well.
Yes, as long as you can find the flights it will work for many European countries.
I’m trying to book a trip with this from dfw-jnb but nothing shows up. How do you see any availability?
I see availability on April 18th The dates you are looking at may not have availability. I just picked a random date and it worked in economy class. Business is harder to find if you are looking for that.
I am just getting into Lifemiles, and so far it seems like a no brainer! If I transferred my Capital One points (85000) to Lifemiles, do they expire after a certain amount of time?
Yes, they do – 11 months after no accrual. But you can buy a few to extend the clock – that’s what I do!
