I recently was in London and wanted to stay at a hotel near the Theater District after watching the musical “Six”. Having a nice stockpile of Chase Ultimate Rewards, made it an easy opportunity to make this happen. I checked out several Hyatt stays near the theater district and was intrigued with this theater which was less than 1/2 mile away. Let’s do a review of the Great Scotland Yard Hotel!

Price

The price of this hotel was over 400 pounds so almost $500 and cost me 25K Hyatt points stay there. I really like using my Ultimate Rewards to transfer to Hyatt stays as I can always get outsized value with them. To stay at a Marriott of similar quality would require upwards of 70K Marriott points.

Ambience

From the very minute I walked into the hotel, I knew this would be a special stay. It most definitely has a lot of English charm. The foyer is beautiful and also quaint. The check in area is in its own separate room where two very nice staff members eagerly try to meet your every need. My room wasn’t quite ready so they took me to the Parlor for refreshments or lunch. They quickly found me there the minute the room was ready.

Room

Unfortunately, I don’t have Globalist status with them yet, so I didn’t get an upgrade but I enjoyed the very nice, if slightly smallish room. It did have two bathroom areas though. One with the toilet and a small sink but the toilet, may I say, was magnificent. A heated toilet seat! I would have thought that this was just a novel idea but it was really nice!!

The other, larger bathroom had double sinks, and a very nice shower. I particularly loved the blue teal tiles.

Service

A review of the Great Scotland Yard Hotel would not be complete without talking about the service in the hotel. Everyone was looking for a way to help you out. If I looked slightly confused, someone was there to see if they could help me. World class service all the way.

Food

I only ate at the Parlor for lunch and had the most delicious butternut squash pasta with pine nuts. It was completely scrumptious and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Many of the items on the menu looked quite good. There was also a bar and restaurant on the premise.

 

Bottom Line

If you are looking for a hotel in London located centrally to the theater district, Convent Garden, Trafalgar Square, and many other areas, consider the Great Scotland Yard Hotel. The option to use Hyatt points from the World of Hyatt Credit Card or points from the Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card and transferring them to Hyatt, make it a great option for a stay in London.
