Taking that flight that offered a “shower in the sky” has been on my bucket list for some time. Did it live up to the hype I had built up in my mind? Hang on, I’m about to spill the beans with my review of Emirates first-class seats Milan-JFK.
Flying Emirates first class was a dream of mine. Thanks to points and miles, that dream came true, just like my Singapore Suites flight did. But this flight came about in a roundabout way. Alex found a first-class seat (only one) for herself and wanted me to fly to Milan so she could fly it back. I was slated to fly Emirates business class (still really nice). This is the trip where planning around a flight took place. When we booked these flights, we had no idea where we were going to go (I know, crazy)! We ended up going to Orselina, Switzerland—more on that in another post!
Alex booked first class from the start for 85K Emirates miles (this has since gone up to 102K miles) . They only had one first-class seat available, so I booked a business class seat for 72.5K miles transferred from American Express Membership Rewards (this has since gone up to 87K miles). My plan was to ask for an upgrade to first class at check-in using 30K Emirates miles (which I made sure that I had in my account). Two days before departure, I noticed that I could upgrade online—it was a relief to know that I had that first-class seat, even if it meant it cost me more than Alex’s did!
Every premium cabin booking comes with a visit to an airport lounge. The Emirates Lounge is one of my favorites as I have found their food very tasty. This visit was no exception as we had delicious beef, carrots, potatoes, cheese cannelloni, and yummy desserts. As we were eating, Alex said, “Is it funny that I am sad for when it’s over, and it hasn’t even started yet?” I love that sentiment, I feel it so often with this points and miles game.
I love that you can board right from the lounge. They announce that your flight is ready to board, and you walk right onto the plane.
The crew was beyond friendly. Our attendant, Jackie, introduced us to our cabin. Our space was large enough for our luggage to fit in it. A basket of full-size, gourmet snacks was on the counter, along with a Bulgari amenity kit that contained full-size perfume and other toiletries. Another area had several sodas and water. There was also a nice journal and pen to take home. Full-size leather seats and a HUGE tv screen completed the cabin. It was impressive! Additionally, the door to the cabin offered privacy when closed.
The meals and snacks are all on-demand. You can order at any time. I love this concept so that you don’t have to eat right after takeoff. The menus were expansive. I ordered the filet, mashed potatoes, and carrots, and they were delicious.
There is a bar/lounge behind business class that also offers snacks and drinks. It has comfortable seating on each side. Although I don’t drink, it is a fun concept.
There is also the cutest “movie menu”—popcorn, sliders, lobster salad, and other items were available to eat while watching a movie at your seat.
Shortly after takeoff, our attendant asked what time we wanted to take a shower. She also brought some soft pajamas and slippers in a cute carry-on bag to use during the flight and take home. The bathrooms were spacious and complete with more toiletries, a hair dryer, heated floors, and the “all-important” shower.
When can I go again? The best part of this Emirates first class flight from Milan-JFK was that it took place during the day, so I didn’t feel a need to sleep and miss all the fun! I will most definitely be taking this flight again on a trip home from Europe. These are some of my favorite points and miles experiences—doing something that I could NEVER have done without this points and miles game!

The Milan – JFK or JFK-Milan route is one of the best so I would look there.
