Grace is a points and miles beginner, but she was still able to book an amazing vacation to Cabo. We love that you can quickly learn the game and have success with credit card points and miles! Only two cards opened, and she was in Cabo for her babymoon! Here is her story:
This is our very first travel success story. We had only opened our first card in January 2022, and I was pregnant and on a deadline for a good babymoon! We opened the Citi Premier (no longer available) when it had an elevated welcome offer of 80K points. In February, we opened the Chase Sapphire Preferred with the standard 60K welcome offer for P2. This was all we needed!
I transferred 60K Ultimate Rewards (plus a little extra of the points earned from hitting the minimum spend) to Hyatt and booked three nights in June for the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos resort! We live near Los Angeles, so it was a nice extended weekend babymoon for us.
We stayed in late June and only booked at the beginning of May! I couldn’t believe it. Once I had the hotel booked, I checked EVERY transfer partner with Citi, and the best redemption was with JetBlue. So I transferred 64K Citi points to jetBlue and booked two round-trip tickets from LAX to Los Cabos. I used the rest to cover the taxes, about $200. So that made this trip COMPLETELY free!
We did hire a shuttle to and from the airport, and that was about $60, but that was all we paid out of pocket! We enjoyed sleeping in (cause we don’t sleep now), trying several restaurants and ordering more than one thing, and the poolside bar while we lounged by the pool pretty much all day.
It was a wonderful start to our points and miles journey!
Thanks for sharing your beginner’s reader success story to Cabo with us, Grace! We are so glad you enjoyed your babymoon and hope that you get to sleep again soon!
