I think we at TMS would all agree that booking a Hyatt Place for family travel is one of the most economical decisions one can make. Not only are the point redemptions phenomenally low in price, but you can usually fit SIX people in a room. Additionally, almost all Hyatt Places include complimentary breakfast for the whole family. Talk about huge savings for a family of six!
There are over 400 Hyatt Place hotels all over the world. They offer 24/7 gyms, dining and work areas, they are pet-friendly, and often have pools. Many Hyatt Place hotels are Category 1 stays and can be booked for as little as 5k Hyatt points/night (3.5K for off-peak pricing). Even a higher priced Category 4 stay can be booked for as little as 12K off peak/night.
Be warned that all Hyatt Places are not created equal. One of my favorite Hyatt Place hotels near the Denver airport is the Hyatt Place Peña Station / Denver Airport. The decor is modern, the hotel is newer, and the location is great for an overnight stay before an early morning departure from Denver.
I couldn’t get a stay there this week so I stayed at another Hyatt Place nearby, The Hyatt Place Denver Airport. Both are category 2 hotels but they couldn’t have been different. I will NEVER stay at this one again. It was old, outdated, and had the feel of a Motel 6. Be sure and read reviews of Hyatt Places you are considering because they can differ greatly!
As a family of 5, we try to stretch our points as far as possible, and Hyatt Place hotels are often our first choice to help make that happen. My top choice is Hyatt Place Kyoto. This Hyatt Place has been our favorite one to date! The rooms were new and clean and included pajamas! The location was great for getting around Kyoto as it is right on top of a metro stop. While the breakfast was not included in our stay, it was one of the top hotel breakfast buffets we’ve ever had.
The most unique Hyatt Place I’ve ever stayed at is The Forester! It’s a category 3 and located outside Chicago in the beautiful area of Lake Forest. There’s a full breakfast in the restaurant for Globalists (no free breakfast otherwise, though).
Not only is the Hyatt Place Amsterdam Airport convenient to Amsterdam’s airport, but it’s beautiful! And only a category 2! We scored nights here for just 6,500 Hyatt points/night. Breakfast was plentiful as well.
Here are some of our reader’s favorite Hyatt Place hotels:
Staying at a Hyatt Place for family travel is a no-brainer! Room for a family of six, free breakfast, and great locations make these hotels a great option. Just be sure and do your due diligence and and a little research as some of them are nicer than other ones! What is your favorite Hyatt Place?

What are the major differences between “hyatt places” and “hyatt houses”?
They are pretty similar but there are many more Hyatt Places than Hyatt Houses. Hyatt Houses usually has a kitchen so they are more inclined for extended stays.
Hyatt’s are quite good hotels. Not my first choice when travelling but defiantly on the list of potential options.
