I love a good airport hotel, and they get extra love from me when they are an in-terminal hotel! Talk about ease; waking up and walking to your gate is the best way to start a great travel experience. My sister and I had a great stay in Italy recently, and before we flew home, we stayed at a great hotel: the Sheraton Malpensa Airport in Milan.
This hotel is located in Terminal 1 of Malpensa Airport (MXP). We took the Malpensa Express train from Milan to get there. There are three different trains that run between MXP and central Milan—one that has about ten stops and takes almost an hour, and two that have fewer stops and take just over a half-hour—so make sure you catch the right one. Once you make the trip by train, the hotel is just a very short walk from the escalators you take to get to Terminal 1.
This was one of the shining moments of this hotel. They had a gathering experience set up near the check-in counter. Beverages (including wine) and an assortment of appetizers were set out for you to enjoy before you checked in if desired. We were anxious to check in, so we didn’t partake.
The woman who checked us in thanked me for my Platinum status with Marriott and thoroughly oriented us to the hotel. She told me that I would receive 1000 bonus points for my account and complimentary breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant, and also that there was a lounge we could use. We preferred to sleep in, so we didn’t get to try the hotel breakfast.
This may be one of the nicest Sheraton Hotels I have stayed in. The decor was very sleek and modern. There were numerous seating areas, a spa, and wide open spaces in the hotel common areas. It also had several conference rooms.
Our room was huge and the beds were comfortable. Complimentary water and a gift of a nicely packaged soap awaited us in the room. The bathroom was large and modern, too. We both slept well, so the beds must have been pretty comfortable.
While we didn’t eat the complimentary breakfast, we did have dinner in the restaurant. My sister had a hamburger, and I had some delicious agnolotti with carbonara sauce.
The restaurant’s decor was particularly impressive. It was so much nicer and more luxurious than most Sheraton Hotels I’ve seen.
We checked out the lounge, and the food selection was impressive. There were a lot of options for both food and beverages. A person could make a meal out of the food in the lounge if they wanted to.
The Sheraton Malpensa Airport in Milan is amazing for being an airport hotel and I’d recommend it. This is my second stay here, and I will return whenever I fly out of Milan. Many airport hotels are just a place to sleep, but this one is genuinely a great stay! What is your favorite airport hotel?

Thank you for the review! I was debating booking this hotel when we arrive at the Milan airport at midnight for our Italy trip and your helpful review sealed the deal! Appreciate your blog so much!
