Flights to Wyoming

Our family of four traveled to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, from Tampa for spring break in 2025.  I have been in the points and miles hobby since July 2024, so still very new!  I began watching flights in September 2024.  We were flexible with dates, so I set alerts on Google Flights for one-way trips on a few different days around the days we wanted to head there and head home.

I ended up booking our outbound flight on Delta (with a connection in Atlanta) for 29,300 points per person, plus $5.60 in taxes.  The cash price would have been around $2,000 for four of us.  I booked these flights in October, after one month of watching prices.  The lowest I ever saw was 25k points per person, but I got greedy and wanted lower, which never came around!  When I saw the 29k, I jumped on it.  I earned these points with the Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card.

For our return flights, I watched for several more months, not booking until January.  They NEVER went down to what I thought was a reasonable amount of points.  We ended up flying United with a stop in Denver for 45k points per person + $5.60 in taxes.  The cash price would have been around $1,800 for 4 of us.  We transferred these points from Chase.  Both my husband and I opened the card_name when they had the 120k welcome offer.

Lodging on Points

We stayed at the Springhill Suites in Jackson Hole.  We used 240k Marriott points for a five-night stay.  My husband earned these points the hard way, banking them from work travel, before we really understood points and miles!  Marriott offers an extra fifth night free on award stays, so it averaged to around 48k points per night.  The cash price would have been $1,988.

Redeem four nights, get the fifth night free when you redeem Marriott Bonvoy® points for a consecutive four-night Marriott hotel stay. You can receive a fifth Reward Night free, redeemable at that same hotel during that same stay.

Our room had two queen-sized beds and a trundle bed.  The hotel also offered a heated outdoor pool and hot tub, both of which we spent a lot of time in!  Perfect spot to hang out in after a day of skiing!  The location was also great!  We could easily walk to town for meals or to the slopes for snow fun.  They also had a FREE shuttle to and from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.  We also got a complimentary breakfast buffet that the kids loved (but not the adults).

Our Stay in Jackson Hole

We opted not to rent a car and walked to most places instead.  We used Lyft to get from the airport to town and vice-versa, which was nice because we could hear stories and tips from the locals.  (And when we arrived at the airport in Jackson Hole, they served complimentary mimosas!!) We also got the $10 rideshare credit on our Delta card.  Parking at the hotel was $60/day, so we were glad to not pay that!  Public transit is also available. (We would have definitely used this instead, but were unaware of it until we got into town.  It’s called Start Bus and picks up at the airport.)

Restaurants and activities truly abound in Jackson Hole!  We were able to take advantage of our Resy credit in some of the restaurants, which was nice. We spent the day at Snow King Mountain, learning to ski and riding the mountain coaster.  They also offer snow tubing.  We took a dog sled tour and a snowmobile tour.  We had hoped to visit the hot springs, but they were closed for cleaning on the day we wanted to go.  On our last night, we took a gondola ride to the top of the mountain and had a delicious dinner.  We also discovered that they have an observatory up there!
