Cami’s Maui Vacation on Points

Cami and her family traveled to Maui using points. Alex coached her on how to use points and she submitted the following story:
Cami’s Story
I had no clue what “travel hacking” meant when I started following your Instagram account! Honestly when I heard people talk about flying with “points,” I assumed they must do a ton of business travel or something. It was never anything I even considered. We had one personal credit card and one business credit card. Occasionally I would use the points to get gift cards or a statement credit. That was the extent of my credit card “rewards!”
In December of last year, we decided we wanted to try and book a trip to Hawaii for Spring Break. We had been the previous year and spent thousands. On a whim, I reached out to Alex. Remember I had never used “points” for any type of travel. She made a couple of recommendations to get us the most points.
We opened a Chase Ink Business Preferred Credit Card, which pays 3x points on shipping (we do a lot of that) and had a great signup bonus. I also opened a Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card. I transferred these points to Hyatt and booked 6 nights at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa with club access (access to a room that had free food and drinks). It was amazing! We also had some points already on an American Express Gold Card and we transferred them to Singapore Airlines, where we used Krisflyer rewards to book our nonstop United Flights! That was where Alex really had to coach me since it was totally foreign to me (no pun intended ????). I had never even heard of Singapore Airlines, but it saved us around 30,000 points to book that way!
We had the trip of a lifetime, and I’ve already got another trip booked and paid for completely with points! Thank you for introducing me to a whole new world- literally!
