All About the Citi Strata Premier Card

Alex

Recently, Citibank rebranded the Citi Premier card (no longer open to new applicants) to the Citi Strata Premier Card. There were not a lot of changes to the card besides the design and a new name, increased earn rates at EV charging stations, and travel protections. We do love a flexible currency card, and all of us have definitely redeemed ThankYou Points for award travel.

ThankYou points are some of our favorite points because they are transferable points. This means they can be transferred directly to one of Citi’s many airline or hotel partners, which leads to more flexibility when redeeming your points.

Our top recommended card for beginners is the Chase Sapphire Preferred, with a standard welcome offer of 60,000 Ultimate Rewards. We recommend starting there if you haven’t gotten that card yet. But if you have it, the Citi Strata Premier Card is a great option. It is also a great option for those who are over Chase 5/24.

My mom used Citi ThankYou Points to get to Thailand on EVA Airlines.

Citi Travel Portal

You can also book travel through the Citi travel portal. There, you can book flights, hotel nights, rental cars, and even attractions. Points are worth one cent each in the portal. There are other ways to use your points, but for maximum value, transfer your points to airlines or use the travel portal.

How to Use Your ThankYou Points

Transferring to Air France

Air France is a great airline for getting to Europe. It has become a mainstay for us, whether it is economy class or business class, for European holidays. Add to the fact that they have their amazing Promo Rewards each month, and it is a great value when you transfer your ThankYou Points to Air France.

This card could help me return to Paris!

Transferring to Avianca

Avianca is a part of the Star Alliance, so you can book their partners, like United Airlines, using your Avianca LifeMiles.  I have used 22,500 Avianca LifeMiles to book a one-way ticket to Maui on United Airlines from Denver.

I have also flown business class to Europe several times for 63K Avianca Miles. Citi ThankYou Points transferred to LifeMiles gives you many options.

Use your Avianca LifeMiles to book flights on United Airlines.

Transferring to Singapore Airlines

I love that Singapore has an award calculator so you’ll know up front what you should pay for an award seat. Here are flights to Frankfurt, which is a great way to get to Europe, even if it isn’t your final destination.

Want to experience real luxury? You can book Singapore Suites for 97,000 miles from New York City to Frankfurt. This particular flight was the thrill of a lifetime for me.

One of my favorite flights was flying in this suite on Singapore Airlines.

Transfer Your Points to JetBlue

Love JetBlue Airlines? You can transfer your points to JetBlue. JetBlue is a great option for flying to the Caribbean. You can get direct flights from East Coast destinations to across the Caribbean using JetBlue miles.

It is possible to book direct flights to Turks and Caicos on JetBlue from Boston, Florida, and New York.

Bottom Line

The Citi Strata Premier card may be a good addition to your wallet. Flexible currencies are always helpful when booking travel. I have used Citi ThankYou points for many award redemptions. When have you redeemed Citi ThankYou points?
