As much as I love Turkish Airlines, it can be a pain to book a companion’s flight. We’ve been needing a post on booking for someone else with Turkish miles for a while – here it is.
For most airlines, you can book a flight for another person without any problem or extra step. However, for a few, you need to jump through hoops:
Here’s the step-by-step instructions of booking for someone else with Turkish miles.
Step #1 is to login to your account. Under your name, select “my personal details”.
Scroll down on the left until you see “Personal Companions” and select “add another passenger”.
The following screen comes up where you add the passenger’s details.
When I was done, my husband, with his legal name “Clarence” that he hates, was added, as seen below. It will now be easy for me to book for him with my miles.
My friend, Elizabeth recently booked her first seats for her and her daughter on Turkish Airlines. I asked her to outline her steps to help our readers:
Booking for someone else with Turkish Miles is difficult. By taking a few extra steps, you’ll be ready to book a ticket for a spouse, friend, or family member who is traveling with you.

This is very helpful. Can you book only for someone else using Turkish miles? Example, I want my parents to travel from India to USA, can I book tickets for them using points?
You should be able to book for them once you have made them your personal companions.
I like this, but wondering if any ideas on how to book a Star Alliance award on the Turkish Airlines site for another person?
This will be my first time booking an award flight. I tried to do a practice run to try to book for both my fiance and I but when I put “2 passengers” in a pop up states “The first award ticket can only be issued under your name. If you want to have it issued for a loved one, please contact the nearest sales office”. I have added my fiance as a companion and it is still popping up that way. Is it because it is my first time booking an award flight?
I always had to call to book for someone else until I took my first award flight with Turkish. Now it lets me book for multiple people.
Thank you for this blog. It is just what I was needing.
Thank you for the guide. I followed the steps from Elizabeth’s story, but when I made the reservation for my companion, Turkish Airlines call center told me their credit card processing machine is down? I tried calling back for 2 days and they still gave me the same response. Is there a way to bypass this?
I have never heard of this – let me know if you get a resolution.
When booking with Turkish Air through Star Alliance to Hawaii do I have to create accounts of my children even though they are minors? Also are all flights the same number of points as United or to Hawaii are they always 15K?
I don’t know the answer to the minors question – I would call Turkish. Only certain flights will be 15K to Hawaii on Turkish and it is not easy to find them for a large family but we have had readers tell us their success stories.
