Friday Family Vacation to Hilton Head

Pam

Hilton Head, South Carolina has long been on my travel plans. It is known to be one of the top 10 family beaches in the United States. Let’s plan a Friday Family Vacation to Hilton Head.

Flights

We plan to fly from Dallas to Savannah/Hilton Head (SAV) airport, which is only 30 miles from Hilton Head. Southwest Airlines is a great airline to fly there. Delta, United, JetBlue, Frontier, and American Airlines also fly there, so you have other choices.

It will cost about 100K Southwest points to get our family of four there. However, if they have a Southwest Companion Pass, it will only be about 75K points.

Where to Stay

Staying at a hotel that offers free breakfast is always a good idea for family trips. The Home2 Suites Hilton Head offers that and plenty of room for a family to stay. It is a Trip Advisor Traveler’s Choice winner for 2023, so that is a hint that it is a great option. Having a fridge and kitchenette also helps keep costs down. They even have a shuttle that will take you to the beach!

Bottom Line

Our Friday Family Vacation to Hilton Head will take about four credit card sign-ups, two for each spouse. Be sure to keep the Chase 5/24 rule in mind when you do this.  If you can open up business cards, you can keep those numbers down. Who has been to Hilton Head? We’re going there in a few weeks! We’re making the 10hr drive and staying at the Holiday in Express. I’ve read mixed reviews so I’m a little nervous but it’s very close to the beach so that’s the main selling point for me. My kids have never been to the beach before so I’m excited!

I LOVE Hilton Head. My brother has a house on island so I don’t have to worry about where to stay.

Highly recommend renting bikes! There are bike paths all over the island as well as you can ride on the beach during low tide. We also bring kayaks and often see lots of dolphins. Sea Pines is fun – visit Harbour Town and South Beach (Salty Dog Cafe)
