Let’s see how cheap we can do the Hyatt Ziva Cancun, a very popular THM location, for a family of four. Our family is flying from Dallas this week. Here is our Friday family vacation to Hyatt Ziva Cancun! 🇲🇽
Flights
One of the greatest deals in credit card points and miles is the Barclays Aviator Red (if you can use AA miles). The amazing part about this particular card is there isn’t a set minimum spend—it is ONE purchase. If both parents get this card and make one purchase on each, they will have 140K AA miles. AMAZING!
Dallas is a hub for AA on this trip, so this is a perfect fit. Four round-trip tickets to Cancun are 150K miles. Our two purchases will almost pay for all four flights. I would apply for a Citi Advantage Platinum card to make up the difference (and have miles to spare). Keep in mind the 5/24 rule. One player will now have used two of their spots, so ensure this is how you want to play it.
Hyatt Ziva Cancun
The Hyatt Ziva Cancun can be booked for as low as 35,000 points/night per 2 persons. These rooms cost over $800/night for two persons, and the all-inclusive benefits are amazing. Read our review here. After booking for the adults, I would call the hotel and tell them you’re bringing two children. You will be charged according to their ages. (Or if you have more Ultimate Rewards, you could use points for a second room).
If Player #1 opens the Chase Sapphire Preferred card and then refers Player #2, they will have a total of at least 143K Ultimate Rewards after factoring in the welcome offers, referral bonus, and minimum spend. This is more than enough to book a 4-night stay.
I can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards to Hyatt and stay at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun!
Bottom Line
This is an incredible stay for a family. Just think—free food, beverages, and activities! This saves SO much money, and children have so much fun when parents can say YES to all their food requests. This trip for four is worth over $6000 in cash but can be yours with credit card points/miles, and includes meals! You will be paying $106 in taxes and fees for each person for flights and annual fees of approximately $500 for five cards, so keep that in mind. However, I would pay $1000 for an incredible $6000 trip to the Ziva for my family—how about you? (I’m not including the cost for the 2 children at the Ziva.)This Friday family vacation to Hyatt Ziva Cancun is something I would absolutely do!

What would your advice be for a family of 5? I’ve been researching and it looks like the Hyatt all-Inclusives only allow 4 in a room. Seems like booking two rooms and calling a bunch to request adjoining rooms may be the best strategy, though I’ve heard of people booking a Suite Upgrade for 2 adults and just showing up and paying for their children. Thoughts?
Yes, they only allow 4 in a room. We’ve always booked two rooms and then called to request adjoining rooms. We’ve always called before to find out the costs of extra children too so we aren’t surprised.
