Pam
Puerto Rico is a beautiful island located in the Caribbean Sea. It is an unincorporated territory of the United States, meaning it is self-governing but is not a state. It is known for its stunning beaches, vibrant music and dance, and delicious cuisine. The official languages are Spanish and English, and the currency used is the United States dollar. Puerto Rico is a great place for a family vacation. Because it is a U.S. territory, you don’t even need a passport to travel there, making it so much easier! You can give your family the feel of an international destination without all the hassle—perfect! Let’s check out our Friday Family Vacation to Puerto Rico!
Airlines like Frontier, American Airlines, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest, United, Spirit, and Sun Country Airlines offer non-stop service to Puerto Rico from several U.S. cities. We are flying from Houston, and there is a non-stop flight on United that will work for us at 40K miles roundtrip.
If I choose to go on Southwest, I can save 6K points/person, but the flights are not direct. Personally, I’d rather pay more for direct flights.
The Hyatt Place San Juan would make an affordable stay for a family with free breakfast and a shuttle that will take you to the beaches or to visit Old Town San Juan. This will allow you to stay in San Juan without the expense of a rental car, as it is only 12 minutes from the airport. The mini waterpark at the pool area is sure to delight young children and give you some time to relax.
Getting the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, meeting the minimum spend, and then referring a spouse to it who meets their minimum spend will give you a total of 143K Ultimate Rewards—more than enough for a week’s stay in Puerto Rico!
Getting only three to four credit card sign-up bonuses will allow your family to enjoy a fabulous beach vacation that you will remember for years. We hope you enjoyed our Friday Family Vacation to Puerto Rico!
