Currently, the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card has an elevated offer. But . . . what can I do with the welcome offer from card_name? Does it make sense to get it now? Here are our thoughts and some ideas for using the welcome offer!
For Capital One products listed on this page, some of the benefits may be provided by Visa® or Mastercard® and may vary by product. See the respective Guide to Benefits for details, as terms and exclusions apply.
Capital One can be quirky about approving their cards if you have a lot of other recent applications. That means that it might make sense to apply for this card before some other cards and use up a 5/24 spot on it because otherwise they may be less likely to approve you later on. This card currently has an elevated offer since they have added the $250 travel credit, which isn’t normally a part of their standard welcome offer.
It took me three tries to get approved for this card, but my husband had the same cards and the same credit score and got approved on his first try. Don’t get discouraged if you get denied.
With the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, you’ll currently earn 75,000 miles once you spend $4,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening, plus you’ll receive a one-time $250 Capital One Travel credit to use in your first cardholder year. The annual fee is only $95/year.
With the Venture card, you earn 2x miles on every purchase! That means after spending $4,000, you’d have 8,000 miles + the 75,000-mile welcome offer = 83,000 miles!
AND you’ll receive up to a $120 credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck®!
🏰 Redeem them for $830 off Disney tickets (or any other travel purchase)!
To purchase Disney park tickets on points with this card, there is one trick and one trick only: you must purchase the tickets from a third-party site. Purchasing tickets directly from Disney does not code as travel on the Venture cards, so purchase them from a third-party site like Get Away Today (Get Away offers refundable, lower-cost tickets anyway, so it’s a win all around). Then just log into your Capital One account and apply your miles to get a statement credit on your purchase.
✈️ Transfer your Venture miles to Turkish Airlines and fly from the U.S. to Istanbul in business class for just 65,000 miles plus taxes and fees!
🧑🧑🧒 Transfer them to Flying Blue and fly three people from the U.S. to Europe on KLM or Air France for just 25,000 miles/person in economy (and even fewer miles for kids ages 2-11)!
The $250 travel credit can be used to book a boutique hotel for which you can’t use other points or miles, a rental car, an inexpensive domestic flight, and many other things. It really is an easy credit to use.
The welcome offer from the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card is definitely a better deal right now. What are your thoughts? Is it going in your wallet now?
