Recently, I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City in Salt Lake City, Utah. The purpose of this trip was some family time with family from London, along with Alex’s family. My daughter, Lindsey’s husband, was in Salt Lake on business, so we made that our main base and naturally, wanted to stay at a Hyatt. The Hyatt Regency is a new hotel located in the downtown area close to City Creek Mall for shopping, drivable to the many ski areas, and perfect for a visit to Salt Lake City.

 

First Impressions of Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City

Wow! The lobby is big, beautiful, and impressive! I immediately got the vibes that I was going to like this hotel. The reception desk was welcoming, and when I asked about an upgrade to a suite, they told me there was no availability the first night but to check back if I was willing to change rooms. (Spoiler: I’m ALWAYS willing to change rooms for a suite upgrade!)

 

Review of our Room at Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City

We booked a King Room for 13,000 points per night. The Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City is a Category 3 Hyatt hotel, so I could have used a free annual night certificate also. This is a great redemption for a beautiful hotel. I think it’s insane that this hotel is only a Category 3 hotel.

The second day, I called, and they had a suite open. So we moved rooms, which was really nice. The views of the Utah mountains were massive from our floor-to-ceiling windows.

 

 

Breakfast

Globalists get free breakfast each morning. Because they have a club lounge, the breakfast was a buffet that had a lot of great choices. Eggs, bacon, pastry options, fresh fruit, oatmeal, and yogurt were always present as well as juice and hot beverage options.

 

 

Parking at the SLC Hyatt Regency would have cost about $35/night but is also complimentary with Globalist status. That really helped save costs for us, although we didn’t use our rental car much.

 

Using the Hyatt Regency Club Lounge as a Globalist

Not only do you get breakfast as a Globalist, but you also get free drinks and snacks all day. This was a nice perk for us as some of our grandchildren came for the day and enjoyed all the cookies, chips, and sodas they could handle. The Hyatt Regency Salt Lake Lounge is beautiful, with views of the city and mountains.

 

Restaurants at the HR Salt Lake City

There is a place where you can pick up snacks, desserts, sandwiches, and beverages called Market Coffee and Fresh Goods. They also have the following restaurants on site:

• Mar-Muntanya
• The Salt Republic
• Contribution Cocktail Lounge

Because we have favorite restaurants in the Salt Lake Area, we only got room service. However, I have heard their restaurants are really good.

 

Rooftop Pool

There is a rooftop pool at the Hyatt Regency that my grandchildren loved. It had rotating color lights when we were there one night and they had the best time swimming in it. Unfortunately, it is only open seasonally as it is an outdoor pool but there is a ton of seating and it makes a great spot for grownups to talk while the littles swim!

 

Bottom Line

I travel to Salt Lake City quite often and will happily return over and over again to the Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City. It is my kind of hotel – centrally located, spacious, modern vibe, and incredible service. If you are looking to stay in Salt Lake City for close proximity to ski areas, business, or visiting family, as I did, I heartily recommend a stay here.
