Hyatt keeps adding more hotel brands you can book with Hyatt points. Mr. and Mrs. Smith Hotels is one of their newer brands. This acquisition of over 1500 luxury hotels all over the world further cements why we love Hyatt so much. Mr. and Mrs. Smith is a travel company that offers a collection of luxury boutique hotels around the world. I once stayed at two Mr. and Mrs. Smith hotels in New Zealand that I thoroughly enjoyed, but these hotels are not currently being offered through Hyatt.
Both of my stays at these properties were so much fun. They had excellent service and fun, vibrant decor. Each hotel in the brand promises a unique welcome gift – usually appetizers or a treat. In these instances, we had a special bath salt as a gift. Some even offer an extra activity.
Because I enjoyed my previous Mr. and Mrs. Smith stays, I was excited that Hyatt would partner with them especially since I get so much oversized value with my Hyatt points. Unfortunately, these properties are available at dynamic pricing, meaning that the point redemption cost matches closely to the cash cost of the hotel. Goodbye to that oversized value concept!👋
Instead of having a Hyatt category attached to them and following the Hyatt chart pricing, they are following dynamic pricing. For instance, one of our favorite stays, the Canaves Oia Suites, was available to book with Hyatt for 45K points/night for a long time. It is now a Mr. and Mrs. Smith property, costing about $1200/night to stay if you pay cash. Now, it costs 130K points/night. Talk about a huge increase!
A little piece of news on this property: It is also a Small Luxury Hotel of the World, so it can be booked with Hilton points, too! It costs about 140K Hilton Honors points/night. If you can find standard night availability, you can stay there for free with Hilton free night certificates.
Here are some pictures of other properties to give you an idea of the brand.
I was a fan of Mr. and Mrs. Smith Hotels before the announcement that Hyatt had added the brand to its portfolio. This gives those of us who love Hyatt even more choices, but be warned: It probably won’t be the great value that Hyatt usually offers when you redeem points at one of these hotels.
