Pam
Norma shares her points and miles journey with us in this reader success story to Napa Valley. Here are her words:
My name is Norma and my husband and I just got back from a weekend trip to Napa Valley, Ca where we celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. We flew to Sacramento using Southwest points. We also used the Southwest Companion Pass that we earned by opening both a personal Southwest card and a Business Southwest card.
We stayed at the Hyatt Alila Napa Valley, which I booked by transferring my Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt. This hotel is currently bookable off-peak for 35,000 points. It is a category 8 hotel and retails for $1200/night.
Our next trip is to Maui in a few weeks with our two kids. We’re flying Southwest and staying at Kaanapali Alii, A Destination by Hyatt Residences. We booked the flight and hotel the same way as our Napa trip.
When I first learned about points through a random IG post, I quickly saw the logic in using my regular monthly spending to accrue points. I also understand how easily a new person can get confused by all the information, IG accounts, etc. I took your course when I first started, and that was a clear and concise starting point. Since then, I’ve deleted all but a handful of accounts to keep apprised of new cards and trends without the information overload.
Thanks, Norma, for sharing your reader success story to Napa Valley with us. We look forward to hearing about your further adventures.
