Pam
Sophie’s reader success story to Tahiti is one I was excited to read. We know many of you would also like to go there. Here is her story:
Back in October and November 2021, my husband and I were planning our December wedding (late planning, I know, but we had a short engagement). In October, I started following Alex + Pam on Instagram. I honestly don’t know how I found them, but I did, and I’m glad about it. After seeing a few of their posts and videos, I reached out. I explained my situation. I was a college student, so I didn’t make or spend a lot of money regularly, but my then fiancée and I would be spending a decent amount in the next couple of months on a photographer and a suit and such for the wedding.
They suggested with my situation that, I get the Chase Sapphire Preferred card. At the time, it had an increased offer. After our wedding (and the fact that we could pay one month’s rent on a card without a fee), we had about 120,000 points on the card.
Soon after our wedding, my husband and I started trying to plan a graduation trip for me. I graduated in the spring, so between our wedding and when we were looking for a trip, there was not much time to find good deals. Summer trips usually aren’t as nice with points or money costs, especially if you have a certain week you can’t budge on. Thankfully, as we were looking, round-trip flights from Salt Lake City to Tahiti plummeted dollar-wise. They were still high point-wise, but the dollar amount is what matters if you decide to spend your points in the Chase Travel Portal. That’s exactly where we went – the portal.
With our points, we could have come extremely close to free round-trip flights for both of us. However, we decided that we wanted to choose our seats, so we paid a little extra. We were also able to plan our trip early enough that we got some really nice Airbnbs that were priced great! We only spent a few hundred dollars for our entire trip’s stay. One of our places got an upgrade (although I had no idea that happened with Airbnb).
We’re going to spend our time in Tahiti surfing, snorkeling with sharks (and stingrays and fish, but I’m most excited about the sharks), jet-skiing, touring a vanilla plantation, hiking, and learning about some local culture and food! As you can imagine, I am extremely excited, and there’s no way I could have reasoned myself into taking this trip without credit card points and miles!
Sophie, thanks for sharing your reader success story to Tahiti with us- we hope you have the BEST time!
