Reader Success Story to the Lodge at Spruce Peak

Pam

Sometimes a first redemption is easier if you aren’t going too far from home. Starting out nearby can help someone get confidence in moving forward! Here is Lori’s reader success story to The Lodge at Spruce Peak in Stowe, Vermont.

Lori’s Points Adventure to Vermont

Our first ever redemption was amazing!  We live in Maine. We drove to Vermont to The Lodge at Spruce Peak on a Friday and returned home Sunday. It is a Hyatt hotel. My kids took ski lessons in January and I planned the trip right for after they were done in February so they could make use of what they learned.

The start was a bit trying because I accidentally put “Spruce Peak” in the GPS instead of the “Lodge at Spruce Peak,” which took us to Nowheresville, Vermont at first—3.5 hours from our actual destination.  That was a tough pill to swallow after a long work week. We kept our spirits high though.

We pulled over from our drive for a restroom break at one point and my son looked up at the sky and said, “Mom, this is amazing.”  He was right! There were so many visible stars. Sometimes it’s the little things. We trucked on and finally reached the amazing resort. The word gorgeous doesn’t even do it justice.

We checked in and headed to our room. It was a two-bedroom suite with a kitchen, dining area, two bathrooms, a living room with a pullout bed, a wraparound porch overlooking the mountain, and a heated pool. The cost of the room would’ve been $2,500/night plus taxes and fees if we hadn’t used points. We stayed there for two nights with my extended family. We used 91k points per night. Much better than $2,500 per night!

I opened the card_name and the card_name for the points. It was pricey, points-wise, but my kids keep asking to go back.  My mother-in-law kept saying, “How did you do this?!!”  We were all definitely in a “pinch me moment.”

Breakfast at the Spruce Peak Lodge

The breakfast was expensive, but delicious. They sat us in the wine room and the kids loved their hot chocolates. They had some vegan options for me. The beds were comfortable and service was superb. Upon leaving I returned to the room after checking out because my son left his favorite stuffy behind. I couldn’t find it. Housekeeping was in the room and found it among the sheets in the rollaway bed. They stored all our ski gear for us for an easy in-and-out process.

The hot chocolate at the lodge was a huge hit!

When all was said and done, we paid $237 for the two nights. This included parking for two cars, the rollaway bed, and some drinks.

Thank you, TMS, for getting me started with points and miles!  I’m currently planning our next journey to Oregon and Washington this summer. Can’t wait!!! My reader success story to Spruce Peak Lodge was just the beginning of my adventures!
