Pam
Lately, I’ve been going a day early for a positioning flight for two reasons—less stress about making my award flight and the ability to visit a U.S. city I love or haven’t been to. In this case, my sister and I met in Chicago for our sisters’ trip to Italy (again). Not only did I get to show her the city, but I could also do a review of the Park Hyatt Chicago. To say that I love Park Hyatts is an understatement.
The Park Hyatt Chicago is a Category 6 hotel, and I used 29k Hyatt points transferred from Chase Ultimate Rewards® for the stay, which would have cost about $600 if I paid cash. I booked a standard king room and hoped for a suite upgrade. A trick I use is to check the site before I arrive to see if a standard suite is even available. Sadly, there weren’t any. On arrival, they told me we would get an upgrade to a high floor but, as expected, there were no standard suites. I asked if we could get a double-queen and they gave me that.
While not a suite, this renovated room was huge, comfortable, and beautiful. We had a beautiful view of the Water Tower and a very nice bathroom.
I loved the location of this hotel on the Magnificent Mile. It was walkable to many sites and the weather was perfect while we were there.
Prior to my arrival at the hotel, I received a nice letter welcoming me as a Globalist and what my breakfast benefits would be.
Please know your breakfast benefit includes 1 Entrée, 1 hot beverage, and 1 cold beverage per night per registered guest. Breakfast is located on the 7th floor in NoMI Kitchen and operates from 6:30am-11:00am Monday through Friday, and 7:00am-11:00am Saturday & Sunday.
After we got to our room, we heard a knock, and three macarons were brought up. They were delicious but not the usual Park Hyatt amenity that I’ve come to expect. The girl that checked us in couldn’t have been nicer and very thoroughly explained all the features of the hotel.
The service was impeccable and the doorman even recognized us when we returned from dinner and welcomed us back before we even turned towards the hotel.
The common spaces were especially gorgeous. The decor was modern and vibrant, giving off a luxurious vibe. Overall, the decor throughout the hotel was impressive, just as I would expect from a Park Hyatt.
The Nomi Spa has a nice fitness center and a very long, narrow indoor pool (perfect for swimming laps—no, I wasn’t doing that). Several complimentary bottles of water, wifi, and plush robes and slippers were also provided in the room.
The Park Hyatt NoMI Kitchen is supposed to be quite good (and expensive), and we considered dinner there. However, we opted for a place called Miss Ricky’s Trattoria, which had good reviews on Trip Advisor. Jess’s stepdaughter suggested a restaurant called Adalina as one of her favorites. We had eaten late, so I didn’t want to go to a spendy restaurant if I wasn’t hungry.
Jess’s favorite pizza in Chicago is Giordano’s and it was close to our hotel so we checked it out the second day. I’ve decided I prefer thin crust pizza (sorry, Jess 😜).
The Park Hyatt Chicago did not disappoint. It is safe to say that I am a huge fan of that Hyatt brand. It was a beautiful hotel, conveniently located, and lived up to the service and vibe that I expect from a Park Hyatt.
