Review of the Park Hyatt New York

Pam

We were in New York City for 48 hours after a trip to Switzerland. Although we only stayed at the Park Hyatt New York for one night, it definitely made an impression on me. Here’s my review of the Park Hyatt New York.

This trip was the tail end of a trip to Orselina, Switzerland, that we booked solely for the purpose of flying Emirates first-class seats from Milan-JFK. (The things we do for our miles/points experiences!) Because we were flying into JFK, we wanted to try out the TWA Hotel and the Park Hyatt New York that Jess has raved about. And an excuse to see a Broadway show and eat some delicious tacos also called to us.

Park Hyatt

The Park Hyatt is located conveniently near Central Park and less than a mile from Broadway. It is a Category 8 Hyatt hotel, so it can be booked for 40K Hyatt points/night (35K points off-peak). We used Ultimate Rewards we earned from the Chase Ink Business cards and transferred to Hyatt to book this stay.

Hotel room

While we didn’t get an upgraded room, the standard room was quite spacious.

Hotel bathroom

The large bathroom mirror also has a tv embedded, and Alex HAD to take a bath just to watch tv during her bath.

Because we have Hyatt Globalist status, we also got free breakfast. There is a beautiful restaurant, the Living Room, that we could have eaten at, but we ordered room service. Everything on the menu was expensive, and we ordered waffles, pancakes, bacon, juices, and eggs. All but $2.42 was covered on our bill, including the high service charge and gratuity.

The entrance of the hotel is small, and you take the elevator to the second floor to check-in.

Hotel lobby

Every area of the hotel is stylish and modern.

Bottom Line

We had one short night at the Park Hyatt New York, but it was enough to convince me to return. The service at the hotel was spot-on, the furnishings were elegant and modern, and the location can’t be beat—I heartily recommend it! The Thompson Central Park (by Hyatt) is across the street, and I would also like to try that hotel as it gets rave reviews and costs fewer Hyatt points.
