Save 50% with the Hyatt Family Plan Rate

Jess

One of the biggest struggles when it comes to traveling to Europe as a family is the room occupancy limits at hotels in many cities. But what if you could get 50% off the standard rate of the second room? We did just that on a recent trip to London using the Hyatt Family Plan rate. Here are the details on how to save 50% with the Hyatt Family Plan Rate.

The Hyatt Family Plan rate allowed us to book one room on points and get a second room for 50% off! We used 57,000 Hyatt points earned from our World of Hyatt credit card for 3 nights at the Andaz London Liverpool Street) and got the second room for 50% off the standard cash rate. The standard rate was £300/night, but we paid only £150/night. One room for free and the second room for 50% is amazing at an Andaz Hotel – especially in London!

We requested connecting rooms at booking, and that request was honored at check-in. Each room had a queen bed and a full bathroom. Our bathroom had a stand-alone shower while our daughter’s room had a shower/tub combo. It was the perfect set-up and plenty of space for our family!

We paid 57,000 Hyatt points for this room…

Some things to know about the Hyatt Family Plan rate:

  • It’s not available at every Hyatt. We’ve successfully used it a few times, but I always call or chat with Hyatt before booking to confirm that the rate is available at the property we’re looking to stay at.
  • It’s not available to book online, so you should call to book.
  • You can’t get 50% off the points rate for the second room. While we’ve always used points for the first room, you have to pay 50% of the standard cash rate for the second room.
  • The second room is typically meant for kids. Age cut-offs will vary, but some Hyatts have said we could book a second room for kids under 18, and others have said the rate is available for kids 12 and under. We have never had to provide any proof of age, though.

…and got this one 50% off!

Bottom Line

The Hyatt Family Plan rate is a great way to snag a second room at half the cost! It saved our family a lot of money in London, and allowed us to have plenty of space in a city that is notorious for tiny hotel rooms! Did you know that you can save 50% with the Hyatt Family Plan Rate? How will use this great benefit?

    Hi Jess,
I’ve asked Hyatt about this for an upcoming Europe trip we’re planning and the discount they offered for the second room was MUCH less than half – more like 10-20% (basically in like with my Leverage discount). Has your experience been consistently closer to 50% or more like what I’m being quoted?

I called Hyatt about this (and chatted using their online chat) and they seem to think I am crazy. No one has any idea what I am talking about. I confirmed the hotel where we want to stay is on the list linked in this post. They offered me a family suite, but it is not available to book on points (and is expensive) so not nearly as good of an option as if I could book a regular room on points and an adjoining room at 50% off.

I would always call back and talk to someone directly at the hotel. Not all representatives are savvy about all the deals their hotel offers.
