Small Luxury Hotels of the World is a group of 520 hotels in more than 90 countries that are independently owned and luxury-minded. If staying in a chain hotel isn’t your thing, and you like a unique experience, these hotels can be perfect! They are smaller than chain hotels, averaging about 50 rooms, and offer an unparalleled experience. Best of all, they can be booked with Hyatt points!
Hyatt began a relationship with SLH that opened up a world of luxury travel. You just need to be a World of Hyatt member and book on the Hyatt site, making sure your membership number is attached. Not every SHL is bookable through Hyatt, but the number keeps increasing.
When you book a Small Luxury Hotel of the World through Hyatt, you get the following:
Here are some of the SHL places we’ve stayed at in the past – and believe me, they are nice!
This was my first SLH, and it was the epitome of luxury. Gorgeous at every turn with service to match. I certainly felt like I was a high roller. We got our room upgraded to a room that was $100 more expensive (about $700), had late check-out, and had the most unbelievable breakfast each morning. I love Lake Como and would love to come back and stay at the Grand Victoria Concept and Spa!

Canaves Oia Suites
The breakfast at the Canaves Oia Suites was amazing!
This was the last Small Luxury Hotel I’ve stayed at. Many people would just love the old-world vintage luxury of the Hotel Raphael, but for Alex and me, it was just too “old.” Think red rugs, heavy brocade, and gorgeous ceiling designs, and you have the Hotel Raphael. We did not get an upgraded room because it was sold out, but we did get a nice buffet breakfast each morning. It was my least favorite of the four we have stayed at, but the service was impeccable, and the location was wonderful.
Raphael Hotel is complete old world luxury and charm.

Staying at Small Luxury Hotels of the World with Hyatt points is a way to get a luxurious stay for free. We’ve stayed at four of them in the past and hope to stay at more. We think they are a great value on their own, but when you add on the free upgrades and breakfasts, they are amazing! Want to get some Hyatt points? Click here to get our free guide Hyatt points.

Do you know how early Canaves Alia can be booked? It looks like I can’t book 13 months in advance in the Hyatt app
It just opened availability and I booked for next April, 2024!
