Sweet-Spot Award Redemptions to Europe

Pam

It is the dream of many to fly in business-class seats “someday!” It’s often possible to find business-class award seats between North America and Europe for 70 to 80K miles and up, but what about the real deals that cost even fewer miles than that? Yep, that is possible with some of the best sweet-spot award redemptions out there. You might want to plan your next credit card points and miles trip around one of these deals!

Fly Turkish Airlines to Europe for 65K One-Way

This may be my favorite way to fly to Europe at a low points price. It doesn’t hurt that I love this airline, either! Jess flew to Greece and Istanbul on Turkish Airlines.  If you can book about a year in advance and have some flexibility, it’s not hard to find these tickets. And Istanbul is an amazing city to have a stopover in, even if it’s not your final destination.

I just looked for flights from Chicago to Istanbul to see if I could find these 65K business-class flights, and they were there for the dates I picked for next March.

Iberia Business Class from 40.5K Avios

Iberia business class is also an amazing deal.  While there are flights you can find from Spain to the US for 40.5K Avios, this particular flight was 49K—still close to what many pay for economy class. I loved my flight from Vienna- JFK in Iberia business class!

Using Avianca LifeMiles for Business Class to Europe

It is fairly easy to get a deal under 70K ticket from the US to Europe, and that is a great deal. Not exactly an economy-class price, but still a great deal. We did that from Chicago to Croatia in the past. In this example, I can book JFK-LIS for about 65K in business class!

Air France to Europe for 60K Miles

Air France is a great way to travel to Europe in excellent business-class cabins for a low points price—this is definitely a sweet spot.  There are many routes from the United States to Paris and Amsterdam (and other cities) that you can find for 60K in business each way. Sometimes you can even find these seats for less when your route is one of the Flying Blue Promo Reward routes. My favorite way to find these is by looking a month at a time rather than by looking at individual dates. To do this, leave the date blank in your search so you can look at each month on the route you prefer.

When I click search flights, I can look at monthly calendar to find 60K business class flights. The current month shows first but you can click through other months easily.

Virgin Atlantic to London

One of the best deals to get to London is via Virgin Atlantic (airline code VS). I regularly fly from BOS to LHR for under 40,000 VS miles. And yes, that is in business class seats! There are also frequent transfer bonuses to VS, so you can sometimes score an even cheaper redemption. Insane!

The purple lighting is distinctive to Virgin Atlantic. My single seat near the window was perfect.

Past cheap redemptions!

Bottom Line

Business-class seats are the ultimate goal for most credit card points and miles enthusiasts. While I usually pay between 80K and 100K miles to fly in business class, I occasionally find flights for much fewer points. With some creativity and flexibility, you can be taking advantage of these sweet-spot award redemptions to Europe, too. What is the best deal you have found doing this?
