Is a trip to Scotland in your future? If it’s not, you should certainly add it to your list! From the dramatic Highland landscapes to charming villages and historic cities, Scotland is full of unforgettable places to explore, and finding the right place to stay can make your trip even more magical. If you’re dreaming of a cozy countryside inn, a luxurious castle hotel, or a stylish spot in the heart of Edinburgh or Glasgow, we’ve got you covered with the details of the ten best points hotels in Scotland.
There’s definitely no shortage of unique and welcoming accommodations across the country for you to choose from. In this post, I’m sharing some of the best hotels in Scotland that offer incredible charm and a true taste of Scottish hospitality.
Photo from The Roseate Edinburgh Hotel.
The Roseate Edinburgh is a boutique hotel set within two restored Victorian townhouses in Edinburgh’s West Coates neighborhood. The property, part of the Mr and Mrs Smith hotel collection, is ideal for those looking for the classic Scottish charm with some modern luxury. Edinburgh is one of the world’s most walkable cities, and this property is just a 15-minute walk from the heart of Edinburgh, where you can explore Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, Princes Street Gardens, and the National Galleries of Scotland.
Rooms available from 40K points per night
Photo from SCHLOSS Roxburghe.
SCHLOSS Roxburghe is a countryside retreat located in the Scottish Borders near Kelso. The property is set within a historic manor house that is both traditional and modern.
Couples will love this location for its spa, the multiple dining and bar options, as well as the picturesque Scottish surroundings. Staying at the property also provides access to activities like golf, fly fishing, clay-pigeon shooting, and archery.
Because of its countryside location, SCHLOSS Roxburghe is not within walking distance of major towns or attractions. However, the estate itself spans 300 acres, offering opportunities for scenic walks, jogging, and cycling within the grounds.
This Category 4 Hyatt property has standard rooms starting around 12K per night and suites from 21K points per night, depending on the time of year. The Courtyard Duplex Suite is also a great option for families; occupancy rules allow two adults and two children. Check out the review that Jess wrote on this property on her last trip to Scotland!
Photo from Newhall Mains Hotel.
Newhall Mains is a luxurious boutique retreat situated on the northern edge of the Black Isle in the Scottish Highlands, approximately 20 miles northeast of Inverness. The property is set within a restored 19th-century farm complex with both historic charm and contemporary comforts.
Since a trip to Scotland isn’t complete without a trip to the Highlands, this property offers a wide range of activities. Enjoy a whisky mixology class at the hotel’s bar, play croquet on the lawn, or take an e-bike out to explore the countryside. For something a bit more adventurous, you can charter a private RIB to explore the Cromarty coast, where you can get up close with bottlenose dolphins and basking sharks. Or book a trial flight from the property’s private airfield that will take you over spots such as Loch Ness, Ben Nevis, and even the Glenfinnan Viaduct. (Where are my Harry Potter fans?)
Rooms can be booked from 79K points per night:
Photo from AC Hotel Glasgow.
The AC Hotel Glasgow sits in the heart of Glasgow’s city centre, which makes it a perfect base to explore the city. The hotel itself offers stylish and contemporary rooms, and the on-site restaurant serves Mediterranean-inspired dishes made with local Scottish ingredients.
The hotel is a prime location in proximity to many tourist sites, dining options, and cultural experiences. Walk to the historic George Square where you can take in architecture, do some shopping on Buchanan Street, visit Glasgow Cathedral and the Necropolis to learn more about the history of Glasgow, or check out the Gallery of Modern Art. It’s good to note that the Glasgow Queen Street Station is just a couple of minutes’ walk from this hotel, making it easy to access other parts of the city and beyond.
Rates can be found as low as 46K points/night, depending on the season:

Also situated in Glasgow’s city centre is the Moxy Glasgow Merchant City. This property is known for its playful atmosphere and modern amenities. It has stylish accommodations with a touch of flair. The onsite bar offers food and drink options 24/7.
The property is an excellent choice for walkability with numerous attractions and dining options close by. Its proximity to public transportation, including the High Street and Queen Street train stations, makes it an easy choice if you’re looking to explore more than just Glasgow.
I was able to find rates as low as 14K points per night:
Photo from Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood.
The Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood is located at the bottom of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh’s historic Old Town. The property has modern accommodations, as all the rooms were just recently refurbished. There is an on-site restaurant providing Scottish cuisine as well as a spa that includes an indoor pool, sauna, and a range of treatments.
The location of this hotel ensures that most of Edinburgh’s key attractions are accessible on foot. The Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland, is just a short walk away. Arthur’s Seat, located in Holyrood Park, is an ancient volcano that provides panoramic views of the city. This is a perfect picnic spot or a place to watch the sunrise or sunset over Edinburgh. The Royal Mile is the historic street that stretches from the Palace of Holyroodhouse to Edinburgh Castle and is lined with shops, restaurants, and many more attractions.
I was able to find rooms for 44K per night:
Photo from Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel.
The Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel, located in Glasgow, is housed in a Georgian townhouse that has retained its original architectural features, such as the marble fireplaces, wood panelling, and ornate ceilings. The property provides luxury accommodations, a spa, and an on-site restaurant.
With the hotel’s excellent location within the city centre, it’s only a short walk to the theatre district and many museums and galleries. It’s also walkable to Merchant City, which is an area known for its designer boutiques, craft bars, and coffee shops.
I was able to find rooms starting at 59K points per night:

Photo from Garner Hotel Edinburgh – Haymarket.
The Garner Hotel Edinburgh – Haymarket is part of IHG’s new midscale brand. Located within Edinburgh’s West End and located directly across from Haymarket station, which provides direct train and tram links to Edinburgh airport and other Scottish cities. The rooms at this property are contemporary and designed for those seeking comfort without luxury prices.
Haymarket is actually my favorite part of Edinburgh, as it has so much charm and history. This property is only a 15-minute walk to Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile, and just 10 minutes to Princes Street. If rugby’s your thing, you can walk to Murrayfield Stadium in just 20 minutes. And not to be missed is Dean Village, a picturesque area along the Water of Leith, which is about a 20-minute walk from the hotel.
Rooms at this property can be found from 29.5K points per night
Photo from Nira Caledonia.
Nira Caledonia, a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, is a boutique hotel occupying two Georgian townhouses on Gloucester Place within Edinburgh’s New Town. The property provides historic and elegant rooms, fine dining at Blackwood’s Edinburgh, and an intimate atmosphere.
Located within the Stockbridge neighborhood, which offers a village-like ambiance with thrift stores, delis, and a weekly farmers market, this property is also a short 10-minute walk to Princes Street and George Street, and only 20 minutes from Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile.
I found rooms starting at 57K points per night in the slow season:
Photo from Isle of Eriska Hotel, Spa & Island.
This property is an experience of its own. The Isle of Eriska Hotel, Spa & Island is a luxurious five-star retreat that’s located on its own private island near Oban, Scotland. The main house was built in 1884, and that historic charm is seen throughout this entire property. There is onsite dining and full spa facilities where you can relax after a day of exploring the western highlands.
The estate offers activities such as golf, archery, and cycling. The island itself is 365 acres, making it perfect for walks through the meadows or along the shoreline. You’ll need a car to explore the surrounding areas, which include Inveraray Castle, Oban Distillery, and Crarae Gardens.
I was able to find standard rooms starting at 100K points per night:
