From the moment we pulled up to the Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana, I knew we were in for something special. It is tucked away on a quiet stretch of beach about 45 minutes from the Punta Cana airport. We were warmly greeted with cool towels, a yummy drink, and the vibe? Pure relaxation. If you’re looking for a luxury getaway that’s all about slowing down and enjoying some delicious food, this is the resort for you!

I am taking a one-on-one trip with each of my daughters this year, and my daughter Kelly chose this trip. The Dominican Republic was a country neither of us had been to, so I was on board to get a new stamp on my passport. To be honest, I didn’t see much of the DR. We just stayed at the resort!
You need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter or connect through the Dominican Republic. The form is here. We never had to show our QR code, so it must have automatically been attached to our passports.
I found a great deal from Denver using AA miles: 20K miles plus under $100 for first-class seats. The only problem was that the flight left at 6:00 a.m. Ouch! We made that a little bit easier by staying at the Westin Denver Airport the night before our flight so we could get a little more sleep. Our flight there was much nicer with those larger seats, and we could get a little nap in before arriving around 3:30.
Enjoying first class to the Dominican Republic.
I used Punta Cana Transfers for roundtrip transfers to the hotel for $110. We traveled in a comfortable van to the resort. The drive was slow at some points due to numerous speed bumps, but otherwise comfortable. I thought they were extremely reliable and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.
We split up on our flights home. Kelly used Southwest® Rapid Rewards to fly home on Southwest Airlines®, and I paid cash for my United Airlines flight home.
The Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana is an all-inclusive Category E Hyatt hotel that can be booked for 40,000 Hyatt points per night at standard pricing. We were there during peak pricing, so the total was 235K points (45K/night). The cash price is about $700/night, and this includes all food and beverages.
At check-in, we were thanked for our Globalist status and given an upgraded pool-view room, but most of the Globalist features aren’t that valuable at an all-inclusive resort. Because I have never stayed at a Zoëtry brand before, I also got a credit for the Hyatt Brand Explorer Award.
In our room, we had a nice note and some fruit. Our fridge was stocked with complimentary water, sodas, and some beers. On the counter, there were some miniature Snickers, a trail mix snack, and coffee and tea.

Our double-queen room looked over one of the many pools in the area and had a small view of the ocean. It was quite large, with an adjoining spacious bathroom area and a nice outside terrace. It was a 775-square-foot suite with two queen beds and a large bathroom with a soaking tub, double vanity, and rain shower.
On one of the beds was a complimentary beach bag, a travel diary, and a little doll to take as a souvenir of our stay. My only complaint is that the rooms are pretty dark with a lot of dark wood trim and closets. However, despite not being as light and modern as I usually prefer, I appreciated the cultural vibe of the decor.

The resort is pretty spread out, but walkable. It only has 92 rooms, so it maintains a smaller boutique feel, and you don’t feel overcrowded. Relaxation was definitely the theme there. At night, terra cotta lanterns lit the walkways, which was quite magical. It was not adults-only, but there were not many children there.
The fitness center was not large, but it had several pieces of equipment, free weights, and air conditioning. My daughter worked out there daily, and I joined in a couple of times. It is located next to the spa, which was heavenly. Hydrotherapy is included for free, but the massages were expensive. They do have specials each day, and we took advantage of a couple of them. Additionally, they give you discount coupons that you can use to get $40 off a massage per person, along with a complimentary 20-minute massage.
Hydrotherapy and steam rooms were complimentary at the spa for all.
Each morning, we were sent a list of activities for the day via WhatsApp. These included complimentary activities like yoga on the beach, pool volleyball, aqua exercise, Spanish classes, and nightly entertainment in the lobby. Additionally, pottery classes were available for an extra charge. We were even able to ride horses near the beach for no charge.
Kelly is fulfilling her dream of throwing pots!
Horseback riding on the beach is complimentary, too.
Enjoying the volleyball game at the main pool.
One of the cutest activities at the resort was daily tea from 4:00 to 5:00. An assortment of teas and sweets was available in the quaintest setting.
Afternoon daily tea was a highlight at the Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana.
Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana features five gourmet à la carte restaurants and a café. However, two of the à la carte restaurants change themes every other night, so there seem to be even more options. Typically, for me, all-inclusive resorts have been hit or miss on food experiences. We went into our first night dining experience wondering how this resort would be, and I’m happy to report that we enjoyed it.
We ate here the first night. My daughter had a delicious rib-eye, I had grilled salmon, and we both enjoyed our meals. Her Caesar salad before the main course was delicious, while my French Onion Soup was just okay. The service was superb, and refills on our drinks were offered frequently.
This restaurant’s theme was fresh grilled on the first night, while it alternated with Fusion cuisine on the other nights. It was so good that we went there the last night, too. Unfortunately, they had decided to have a buffet that night, and it was a miss. It felt like they had grilled meat from a previous barbecue and added some fresh salads. Not impressive. We did make up for the miss with a return to the Mexican restaurant for churros and tres leches cake.
This restaurant alternates between Caribbean and Mexican cuisine. We ate there on the third night when it was the Mexican theme. The highlight of our meal was the churros (I may have gotten two orders) and the tres leches cake, although the entire meal was excellent.
It also serves breakfast each morning. We ate there once for breakfast but preferred the Indigo menu and location.
Piragua Restaurant.
Breakfast and lunch are served there. The restaurant focuses on casual beachfront dining, offering stunning ocean views and international foods. We never had lunch there as we enjoyed the made-to-order pizzas and specialty buffets by the main pool.
We ate here on the second night. It alternates between Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, which was Italian the night we ate there. This was the most disappointing restaurant for both of us. It’s not horrible, but nothing to rave about.
Coco Café
This little shop serves premium coffee drinks and gourmet sandwich bites in a casual atmosphere.. It also has some delicious tarts, treats, and fruit.
Additionally, guests can enjoy 24-hour in-suite dining. We ordered French fries and cheesecake late one night. By the main pool, they also have barbecues (burgers, hot dogs, and chicken one day and ribs, shrimp, and chicken wings another day) or a specialty buffet (nachos and fajitas one day).
Each day there was a barbecue or buffet set up by the main pool for lunch.
How was the service? In a word: superb. From the moment we arrived, everyone we met greeted us with genuine warmth and a smile. One thing I always love about Latin American resorts is how they welcome you “home” and call you “family”—it adds a special touch.
Since it’s an all-inclusive resort, tipping isn’t front and center, but we made a point to go around on our last day to thank and tip a few staff members we’d missed—everyone was so appreciative.
Each guest is also assigned a private concierge, reachable via WhatsApp. Ours was fantastic—responsive, thoughtful, and always ready to help with anything we needed, which made the whole stay even more relaxing.
Overall, our stay at Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana was a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Like most all-inclusives, the food was a mix of hits and misses—but with plenty of options, we found our favorites pretty quickly. Best of all, enjoying it all on points made it that much sweeter! What is your favorite all-inclusive on points?
