Reader Success Story to Jamaica

Pam

Courtney’s reader success story to Jamaica is an inspiration to all of us! Here is what she has to say:

3 weeks ago my husband, Mike, and I traveled to Jamaica for free! It was our 3rd trip that was booked solely on points. We stayed 7 days and 7 nights – 4 in Montego Bay and 3 in Runaway Bay. In Montego Bay, we used our Chase Ultimate Rewards from the Chase Ink Business Unlimited to stay at the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall hotel. The food was great, the beach was gorgeous, and best of all-it was free! We booked our room by transferring our points from Chase to Hyatt. The room we booked was 28,000 points per night, which was much better than the price tag of $480 per night.

The second resort we stayed at was the Bahia Principe resort in Runaway Bay. While I wouldn’t recommend staying here, it was clean, had good food, and once again – was FREE! We booked 3 nights by using our Capital One Venture card and erasing the purchase. The cost per night was $226.

I feel like we cheated on our flights because we had unused credit from a trip that was canceled in 2020. We were very smart/lucky that we purchased flight insurance for this trip though. Our flight from Montego Bay to Florida was canceled 2 hours before the flight – forcing us to book a last-minute ticket. Because we had insurance, we were able to have the cost of our flight refunded and we plan on using our new airline credit for another flight in the future.

We got into points and miles about 4 years ago. I knew we could get points by using a credit card, and I was a poor college student who was willing to give it a try. We now have 6 travel credit cards and are working towards a trip to Europe in Spring 2023. We will be using the Capital One Venture X combined with the Citi Premier card to cover expenses. Our plan is to take many weekend trips plus 1 or 2 big trips a year using credit card points. We are very grateful for credit cards and the fun trips they’ve allowed us to take! The biggest question for us is where do we go next?

Thanks for sharing your reader success story to Jamaica, Courtney! We can’t wait to see your next travel!

We love traveling as a family, and one of our favorite things to do before the trip is read about where we are going. Here are some great kids books to get them excited about traveling to the Jamaica: http://storybooklists.com/country/storybooks-with-jamaica/
