Generally, hotels attached to airport terminals don’t excite me. There are a few exceptions. One is the Westin at Denver International and, more recently, the Grand Hyatt at SFO. I was pleasantly surprised by my recent stay at the Grand Hyatt at SFO.

Alex, Jess, and I arrived at SFO too late to continue to our homes following our recent trip to Singapore and Malaysia. We opted to stay at the Grand Hyatt at SFO on Hyatt points for only 17k/night.  Alex and I stayed in a two-double room, and Jess had a king room. These were all upgraded to runway view rooms due to our Globalist status.

 

 

How to Get to the Hotel

Upon arrival at SFO, you take the escalator to the AirTrain. The hotel is one of the train stops, so it is very easy to get there. We arrived at the front lobby and were immediately impressed with the decor. We opted for room keys on our phones so we could bypass check-in. These also worked well to get us into the Grand Lounge, where we grabbed a quick beverage, yogurt, and carrot cake just before they finished closing it down for the night.

 

 

Rooms and Decor at the Grand Hyatt at SFO

This hotel is a Category 5, so it is not surprising that the decor was stylish. I was particularly impressed with the beautiful chandeliers and lighting throughout the hotel. It really has an upscale vibe, and we all remarked on how nice it was. Our rooms were nice; they were not huge but comfortable, with large bathrooms.

 

 

Our favorite part of the rooms was finding binoculars near the floor-to-ceiling windows with a plane spotter guide. If we had been there earlier, looking for the different planes would have been fun. I am sure that Alex’s boys and Molly would have found it a lot of fun!

 

 

Globalist Breakfast

Thanks to our Globalist status, we each got to enjoy free breakfast. We could each order a hot dish, a side dish, and a beverage at the Quail + Crane restaurant. Jess and I had the Eggs Benedict, mine with ham and hers with crab. Alex had the two eggs and bacon option, and we also ordered yogurt parfaits. Jess, of course, had her usual latte.

 

 

The cost of these breakfasts (or breakfastes😜) would have been over $100, but we didn’t pay for the meal or the tip as it was all included with our status. We love Hyatt Globalist status!

 

 

Bottom Line

I enjoyed the Grand Hyatt at SFO so much that I will be looking for opportunities to position to San Francisco more often to stay there again. A great in-terminal hotel is hard to find so this was a fun discovery for us!
