Earn Hyatt Globalist Status Without Staying 60 Nights

Hyatt Globalist status is the most coveted hotel status out there, and for good reason. While it normally takes 60 qualifying nights with Hyatt to reach it, I managed to earn it in 2023 without staying quite so many nights. Here’s how I did it…
First, a Recap – What Is Included with Hyatt Globalist Status
First, let’s recap exactly what Globalist status includes:
- Complimentary full breakfast daily (or Club lounge access) for up to 2 adults and 2 children
- Free parking on award stays
- Room upgrade based on availability at check-in (including standard suites)
- Waived resort fees on paid & award stays
- 4:00 pm late checkout
You’ll get Globalist status for the rest of the year in which you earn it, the following year, then the first two months of the year after that. Let’s say you earned Hyatt Globalist status in October of 2024. That means you’ll have status through February 2026.
Hyatt Stays
Obviously, any nights you stay at a Hyatt hotel count towards the required 60 nights. But it’s not only paid stays that count. Stays using points, points + cash, or free night certificates count as qualifying nights, too! Remember that taxes and fees are waived on Hyatt award stays. That means that you could theoretically achieve Globalist status without spending a single dollar at Hyatt.
Credit Cards
Don’t want to stay 60 nights at Hyatts in one calendar year? Good thing you don’t have to! Both Hyatt credit cards come with perks to help you beef up your qualifying nights balance:
- The World of Hyatt Credit Card
- Receive 5 qualifying nights towards elite status every year (just by having the card!)
- Receive 2 qualifying nights for every $5,000 you spend on the card
- World of Hyatt Business Credit Card
- Receive 5 qualifying nights for every $10,000 you spend on the card
My Strategy to Earn Hyatt Globalist Status
So here’s my strategy for earning Globalist status without staying 60 nights:
- Prioritize staying at Hyatt hotels while traveling
- Keep the Hyatt personal card each year to earn the 5 qualifying nights
- Make up the difference needed with spend on the Hyatt business card
And here’s the breakdown of how I reached 60 nights in 2023:
- 5 nights from having the Hyatt personal card
- 20 nights from spend on the Hyatt business card
- 35 nights stayed at Hyatt hotels
Other Perks
Hyatt also has what’s known as “Milestone Rewards” when you hit a certain number of nights per calendar year. They are as follows:
- 20 Nights: 2K Next Stay Award OR 2 Club Access Awards OR $25 FIND Experience Credit
- 30 Nights: 1 Category 1-4 Free Night Award AND your choice of 2K Next Stay Award OR 2 Club Access Awards OR $25 Find Experience Credit
- 40 Nights: 1 Guest of Honor Award AND your choice of 5K Bonus Points OR 1 Suite Upgrade Award OR $150 FIND Experience Credit
- 50 Nights: 5K Bonus Points OR 2 Suite Upgrade Awards OR $150 FIND Experience Credit
- 60 Nights: 2 Guest of Honor Awards AND 1 Category 1-7 Free Night Award AND 2 Suite Upgrade Awards AND access to My Hyatt Concierge
So after hitting 60 nights with Hyatt, not only will you achieve Globalist status and all the perks that come along with that, you will also have racked up tons of other Milestone Rewards. Talk about huge savings!!
Bottom Line
Earning Globalist status is no walk in the park. If you don’t stay at Hyatts much or if you primarily stay at lower-category Hyatts like Hyatt Place or Hyatt House (where benefits like free breakfast and free parking are typically already included), it probably doesn’t make much sense to try to earn Globalist status. But if you’re a Hyatt loyalist and have some bigger stays coming up, Globalist status can really save you a lot of money and get you some amazing perks. We love Hyatt award stays because they offer oversized value, so Globalist status has been more than worth it for us! Thank you for this post. My family only stays about 15 nights per year in a hotel. I would love a follow up post on how to achieve globalist status when Hyatt runs one of its promotions where you only need to stay 20 nights. Can you still get five nights from the personal credit card? Does achieving globalist status this way equal to the globalist status earned with staying 60 nights (I’ve heard from some Facebook groups that it’s different). I would also love more info on the benefits of being globalist- how do SUA get issued and how to use them?

Your name would need to be on the reservation for it to count and they might need you to do the check in.
Great information!! Does the start date begin once you officially earn status or is it the calendar year? Wondering if there’s a preferred time to apply for the cards!
It is in a calendar year so I would begin at the start of 2024.
So if it takes me until June, for example, to achieve Globalist, is it only good until December?
It would be good from when you earn it, all the next year and then till the end of February of the following year. You end up with more than a year of it!

Yes, they reset each year. That is why we recommend trying to earn Hyatt Globalist status at the beginning of each year.
Do stays at any Hyatt affiliated property count toward Globalist in a calendar year (even stays at lower-category Hyatts like Hyatt Place or Hyatt House)?
Yes, that is a major part of how we get Globalist, through Hyatt Place.
Does having the Hyatt credit card with automatic Discoverist status mean you only need to stay 50 nights to get Globalist?
No, unfortunately. You still need to get that 60 day equivalent.
If you add an authorized user to the personal card, do their stays also count towards your globalist status?
Nope. Your Globalist status is tied to your WoH Account, not your credit card.
