Elizabeth sent in her reader success story on going to St. Kitts on points and miles. That is a trip on my radar so I was excited to read it! Here is her story.
I wanted to share our recent family trip to St. Kitts on points and miles. With our family growing over the past few years, I’ve started dabbling in points and miles.
As background, I’ve traveled extensively for my job in and have racked up a fair amount of points (Marriott Lifetime Platinum status). This trip was our first traveling with our twin daughters without grandparents, so we decided to ticket both girls.
We used 21,000 AA miles per person roundtrip. Our journey was PIT-JFK-SKB with an overnight layover at the JFK Marriott (59,000 points).
The flight from JFK to SKB was smooth. Completing immigration forms in advance made customs a breeze. Our shuttle driver, Colin, met us at the airport with cold water and AC, making for a comfortable ride. He also took us to a local grocery store and duty-free liquor store to stock up for the week.
The shuttle service was timely for the JFK Marriott, and the M-Club lounge was a hit with our son, who loved watching planes. Note: If a liquor license is important to you, this hotel only serves beer and wine in their restaurant, bar, and M-Club. We used 59,000 Marriott Bonvoy points for this stay.
We spent five nights at the Park Hyatt St. Kitts, redeeming 25,000 points per night. My husband opened a card_name last year and we used the welcome offer to transfer points to Hyatt for this stay.
We stayed in a standard double queen room with a lovely balcony to enjoy after the kids went to bed. We had two cribs delivered; one fit perfectly in the closet. Housekeeping was prompt, with nightly turndown service. We used WhatsApp to request amenities like ice—highly recommend downloading it in advance.
We loved the resort. Kids under 5 eat free at all the restaurants, and cocktails are priced at $20-$22 each, so the liquor store stop was a good cost-saving measure. Rams to Go also delivers to the resort, which we used mid-week to restock milk.
Our kids enjoyed Camp Hyatt. Since they were under 3, we stayed with them, but they loved the toys, activities, bounce house, and playground. My husband and I both indulged in individual massages—10/10, highly recommended.
On our way home we flew SKB-MIA-PIT with an overnight layover in Miami. We used 9,000 Hyatt points for a stay at the Hyatt House Miami Airport. After the Park Hyatt, it was just okay. The hotel had a restaurant, pool, and washer/dryer, and we were upgraded to a two-bedroom suite. The airport shuttle was convenient.
Finally, the American Express Centurion Lounge in Miami, as always, did not disappoint.
Thank you for reading about our adventure. It was a memorable trip, made even better by maximizing our points and minimizing our cash out of pocket.
Thanks, Elizabeth for sharing your St. Kitts on points and miles story with us!
