Canaves Epitome vs. Canaves Oia Suites

Jess

If there were ever two properties where you really can’t go wrong either way, it’s these. However, this is a question we get a lot, so I’ll highlight the differences between Canaves Epitome and Canaves Oia Suites in this post to help you decide which you’d prefer to book!

Redemption Options

Both properties are part of the SLH and Mr. and Mrs. Smith portfolios, so they’re currently bookable with both Hyatt points and Hilton points/free night certificates. We think booking via Hilton is the better option between the two. That’s because when Mr. and Mrs. Smith joined Hyatt, they did not fall under Hyatt’s award chart, but instead went to dynamic pricing. That means that the points price will increase as the cash price increases. These properties are both very expensive if you were paying cash, so they typically require over 100,000 Hyatt points/night!

You can also redeem Hilton free night certificates at both of these properties (when a standard room is available). Because rooms at both tend to go for over $1,000/night, this is a great use of those free night certificates.

Other Considerations

Service is impeccable at both. Food quality is very similar and would not be a deciding factor for me. I ate at both Elements (Canaves Epitome’s signature restaurant) and Petra (Canaves Oia Suites’s signature restaurant), and both were excellent. Breakfast offerings are also similar at both.

If mobility is a concern, I would give a slight advantage to Canaves Epitome as it is flatter and has a centrally-located elevator. Canaves Oia Suites is spread over multiple levels with several stairs and uneven surfaces which could be challenging for those with mobility issues.

Bottom Line

As you can see, you really cannot go wrong with either property. I had amazing experiences at both and would gladly return to either. These are both properties that I could never afford to stay at if paying cash but that I’ve been able to experience thanks to points and miles! Based on the differences I highlighted in this post, which one would you choose?

I just stayed at both last week and would agree with all of that. Would stay at either again. Oia Suites has the slight advantage with the caldera views but epitome is so peaceful.
