I just took advantage of the Fine Hotel and Resorts offer that comes with the Platinum Card from American Express. In case you aren’t familiar with this great offer, it is basically that each year you can book a stay at a Fine Hotel and Resort with American Express, and you will get a $200 statement credit. If you find the right hotel, it is basically a free stay. But it gets better as it includes the following items:
I used an expiring 2022 credit to book the Four Seasons in Sydney, Australia for our trip. I booked that stay on January 31st – talk about last minute! Using my 2023 credit, I booked the 2nd night there and did that right after the first of the year.
Amex had promptly credited me the promised $200.00. When I arrived, they had an envelope ready with my name on it detailing all the amenities this reservation gave me, including a room upgrade to their top floor and a bottle of wine. (I don’t drink, so I was wishing I could give it to someone!)
The room was smaller than our hotel at the Sydney Park Hyatt. We got a room upgrade to the 23rd floor and the view was gorgeous! The service is impeccable at Four Season hotels – they remembered our name (and it is difficult to pronounce) and were there for every need. The building is gorgeous – VERY fancy and it makes you feel old-school luxury.
The main restaurant is called Mode, and we ate dinner there one night and breakfast twice. The food was off the charts, as was the service. Our $100 food credits covered most of our dinner there. The breakfast buffet was expansive, and you could also order eggs made to order. We decided it was the best buffet we had been to, and that’s saying a lot, as they were all good on our trip.
With taxes and fees, I paid $604 for my Four Seasons room. I received a $400 credit from American Express, two $100 credits for dinner, and four free amazing breakfasts (valued at $42/per person). I love this credit from my Platinum card. The American Express Fine Hotel and Resorts offer is one of the reasons I keep my AMEX Platinum card. Using points for a Four Seasons hotel is harder to do. This credit allows me to stay at one. How have you used an American Express Fine Hotel and Resorts offer?

Don’t you have to book a two night stay to recieve the $200 statement, breakfast and $100 credit?
A two-night stay is required for the Hotel Collection but not for the Fine Hotel and Resorts benefit. With the Platinum card you can do either one. https://www.americanexpress.com/en-us/travel/benefits/how-to-use-hotel-credit/
I thought you would only get $100 if you book 2 nights back to back as in your case? Did you actually get 2x $100 credit?
That was my thoughts two but they gave me both. Perhaps because it was two separate bookings with two yearly credits – I wasn’t sure but was happy for it!
Do you book through AMEX? Call? Or book directly with the hotel. I get lost in the whi, what, where to contact game and give up
Sometimes.
Thanks in advance!
Once you sign into your AMEX account, go to “benefits and rewards”, then pick “benefits” and pick Fine Hotels & Resorts® Program and you can search and book right there.
Does the Platinum business also offer this?
Unfortunately, no.
Did you have to switch rooms, check-in, check-out, then check-in again?
Nope, they combined the reservations for us.
