For the Hyatt card with the 5 free night certificates, can they be used if I’ve already booked the stays on points? As in, can I just swap a certificate for a night that I’ve already booked on points and get my points back? Thanks!
Call the hotel and see if they would honor that. My guess is no, you would need to rebook each night on points. I would try that and then cancel the stays with points. With certificates, you have to book each night separately. It wouldn’t hurt to call the hotel or Hyatt to see if they can do it for you though.
Hello! I was recently approved for the World of Hyatt card, when the welcome offer was the 5 free nights certificates. There was an issue with me getting approved right away, and the award has now expired. The current award is 30,000 points plus the ability to earn an additional 30,000 after spending $15,000. I’m trying to get customer service to grant me the expired award which is what I initially wanted, but do you think the 60,000 points is a better deal than the five free nights? I read that not many of the nicer hotels are within the category 1-4 hotels, and that the certificates expire, so the points are actually better. Advice? Thank you!
Personally, I prefer the 5 free night certificates. Used at category 4 stays they would be worth about 75K and to get that 60K you have to spend $15K which is a lot of spend. I’d prefer to open other cards with spending that much. This is just my opinion though. If you want to stay at the fancier hotels, you would want the points.
