Credit Cards with Cell Phone Protection

We love our credit cards for the points/miles we earn for free to nearly free travel. We also enjoy all the benefits each card offers us that make the annual fee worth paying year after year. There are several cards that have virtually the same cell phone protection plans. They come with $800-$1000 worth of protection in the event your phone is damaged or stolen. Some even cover cosmetic damage. You can use that coverage twice a year but will have a $50 deductible that you will have to pay. The credit cards with cell phone protection include:

Things To Consider

You must have paid your phone bill with the credit card for the previous statement that you are trying to make a claim on. If your phone was stolen, most plans want you to have filled out a police report within 48 hours. Here is a great article about things to consider with claims for cell phones.

The interesting thing about the credit cards that offer cell phone protection is that the annual fees on these cards vary from no annual fee (the Freedom Flex) to a $695 annual fee (the American Express Platinum). That means you don’t have to pay a lot to have a credit card that offers cell phone coverage.

Bottom Line

Cell phones cost a lot of money and nothing is worse than having one stolen or damaged. Luckily, one of the benefits of some of our favorite credit cards that we use for points and miles also comes with cell phone insurance. Do you have a card with this coverage?
