Friday Family Vacation: Albuquerque

Pam

Our Friday Family Vacation is to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Why should you visit there? Albuquerque hosts several annual festivals and events, such as the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, which is the largest hot-air balloon festival in the world.

Moreover, Albuquerque offers stunning natural landscapes and outdoor activities, providing opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and skiing. The nearby Rio Grande River also offers activities like kayaking and rafting. If your family is outdoorsy and adventurous, Albuquerque is a great vacation spot!

Flights

Our family of four is flying from Atlanta today. Delta offers non-stop flights, so that is what they want to fly. Additionally, Atlanta is a hub for Delta. It always makes sense to have a card that earns miles or transfers to the airline that is a hub where you live.

31K miles round-trip seems to be the cheapest fare for most months. I would look at the flexible calendar to find flights that would be that redemption rate and plan from there if I had the flexibility.

Lodging

Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa is where they want to stay (me too!). It looks stunning and is a Category 4 Hyatt hotel, so they can use a free annual night certificate or 15K Hyatt points/night.

The hotel description on the website says: Take your adventures to the sky with a hot air balloon ride, wind through the desert trails on horseback, or play a round of golf at Twin Warriors Golf Club. There is something for everyone at our desert oasis. I’m all-in on this resort! Jess has stayed there with her family and loved it!

I would use the new best ever welcome offers on the Chase Ink Business Cash or Unlimited for my stay here. One welcome offer for up to 6 nights at one resort—amazing!

Bottom Line

Our Friday Family Vacation to Albuquerque sounds completely doable with credit card points and miles. I would try to time it with the balloon festival, but it sounds like there are plenty of fun outdoor adventures year-round, and the weather is dry and warm most of the year. Have you been there? What are your thoughts about a family vacation to Albuquerque?
