Getting a Marriott Hotel on the Cheap

Pam

Some of my favorite hotels I’ve stayed at have been Marriott Hotels. My absolute favorite Marriott Hotel was the JW Marriott in Phu Quoc, Vietnam. I actually went there just to stay at the hotel after reading so many great reviews about it! Today we want to talk about getting a Marriott Hotel on the cheap.

Look at Flexible Dates Calendar

If I look at the 30-day calendars, I can save points by booking cheaper dates. Check out the difference in award redemptions for this hotel.

Additionally, because I have hotel status, I’d get the most amazing free breakfast buffet I’ve ever had. The JW Marriott Hotel in Phu Quoc is one of my favorite redemptions!

Stay 5, Pay for 4

The best way to save on Marriott Hotels is to plan a 5-night stay. Using award points, you get an absolutely free night with this plan. You pay for 4 nights with points and get to stay for 5! A free night at a costly hotel is really saving! Here’s what I found for a stay in Fort Lauderdale at the Marriott BeachPlace Towers.

In this example, we were able to find some off-peak dates along with using the Stay 5, Pay 4 promotion. Without using these two promotions, 5 nights would have cost 250,000 points.

PointSavers Discounts

Using Marriott PointSavers Discounts is another way to get a Marriott Hotel night on the cheap. Marriott frequently offers hotels for cheaper award redemption. When Alex and I went on our last-minute Maui trip last year, one of our hotels was on a PointSavers Discount so we could book it with a free hotel certificate.

We stayed here for just 35K vs. the usual 50K. This was really nice because it allowed me to save my 50K certificate for a stay elsewhere.

It is really easy to see the PointSavers info when you search for a hotel. Here’s the info I found currently when searching for a hotel in the Miami area.

You can see that this hotel has a PointSaver discount. It is usually a 50K redemption.

To get a Marriott Hotel on the cheap, it is great if you can be flexible on your dates and find a PointSavers discount. With all of these discounts, flexibility is key. You are less likely to get a cheap Marriott Hotel night if you are going on a certain date.

Bottom Line

If you’re like me, you want to get a hotel using as few points as possible. Using one of these methods or a combination of them will help you find a Marriott Hotel on the cheap. Let us know your success stories!
