Before our recent African Safari on credit card points and miles (that didn’t happen), we were supposed to spend a couple of nights at the JW Marriott Nairobi. We used 37K Marriott points/night for this hotel, which has an average cash price of about $300-$350/night. We still stayed at this hotel before we left Africa after our safari was canceled.
The JW Marriott Nairobi is a new hotel located in the Westlands area of Nairobi, where many affluent homes are found. It is also directly across from the Westlands Mall.
Security is strong at this hotel, with guards who allow limited access and a security checkpoint as you enter. After our visit to the island of Mauritius, we arranged transportation to the airport from Welcome Pickups for about $20 USD.
I knew I would love this hotel the minute I walked into the door. It has modern, minimalist decor in neutral white, beige, brown, and black colors with colorful African accents. It was a vibe that I connected with. Additionally, it still has that “new” smell. Even the hallways were beautiful.
We were upgraded to a lounge access room on the 22nd floor with amazing city views. Again, the room was tastefully decorated with a gorgeous bathroom with a soaking tub, shower, and modern feel.
The JW Marriott Nairobi shines in service. Everyone was so happy to greet and serve us. Their smiles were welcoming, and they seemed joyful working at the hotel. Everyone, from the front desk to the restaurant servers, could not have been kinder or more welcoming.
They aimed to make you feel appreciated and welcome to the hotel and their country. They were also very proud of their new, modern workplace.
The first night, we ate at the Hudson Tavern Bar and Grill. It was very good, although our food took a while to arrive.
Breakfast was a complimentary buffet at their Myna Restaurant, and there was an expansive selection, including an omelet station. We also ate there the second night, and I had to personally compliment the manager on the food—it was exceptional. There were so many choices, from a seafood station to a pasta station to many Indian selections. And it was all delicious. There is an Asian restaurant and an Indian restaurant opening soon.
We also had access to the club lounge on the 24th floor, where a smaller breakfast was served each morning, appetizers and beverages in the evening, and some snacks and beverages all day long. It was a beautiful setting with gorgeous city views.
My husband used the fitness facilities daily. There is also a swimming pool on the level, and a spa will be opening shortly.
The JW Marriott Nairobi has risen to the top as one of my favorite Marriott hotels to date. It is modern and beautifully decorated, and the service is top-notch. When we return to Nairobi to complete our missed safari, we will definitely choose to stay here again.
