First Impressions

Arriving at the Hyatt Regency Monterey, we immediately felt a sense of calm wash over us. Although we were expecting the usual welcome drink as Globalist members, we didn’t receive it. However, the relaxed vibe of the place made us feel right at home.

Hotel Information

Tucked away in Monterey, California, the Hyatt Regency Monterey is a Category 5 gem. We scored a two-night stay for 46,000 points, making the most of our Hyatt loyalty. The points were transferred from Chase Ultimate Rewards®, earned through welcome offers and referrals.

Globalist Perks

Being Globalist members had its perks—we were upgraded to the Monterey Suite. Additionally, we enjoyed a complimentary breakfast every morning. We thoroughly enjoyed trying both the à la carte and buffet options, especially the DIY juice bar, which featured fresh ingredients. The breakfast was incredible. It was definitely one of the tastiest restaurants we have tried! We recommend the avocado toast, the French toast, and the eggs Benedict from the menu. The buffet was also spectacular! It included DIY fresh-squeezed juice, where I made the tastiest green juice to energize my morning.

Activities and Entertainment with Family

There was never a dull moment at the hotel. From cozy evenings by the fire pits making s’mores to exploring the various games like ping pong, pickleball, and giant chess, there was something for everyone. The hotel provided a complimentary s’mores kit. The kids had a blast!

Location

The hotel’s location was spot-on, just a stone’s throw away from Cannery Row and the aquarium. Plus, free parking and Tesla charging stations made getting around a breeze.

Bottom Line

Our mid-February stay at the Hyatt Regency Monterey was fantastic, despite missing out on a welcome drink. The weather was pleasant, but we couldn’t help but dream of returning in September or October for some warmer days. With its laid-back vibe, top-notch amenities, and attentive service, this hotel is an excellent choice for families seeking to unwind and have fun in Monterey. We’re already planning our next visit!
