Reader Success Story to Denver

Pam

Our next reader success story to Denver is from an Award Travel Academy student who states that a trip on credit card points and miles helped get her Player 2 onboard. She has been following us for a few years and shared her trip to Denver and future plans with us!

Booking a Trip with Credit Card Points and Miles

My success story is a trip my husband and I took with a few friends last year for my birthday. We went to Denver, Colorado, for the first time for a long weekend. Prior to the trip, I got a Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card and got their bonus in Delta Skymiles. I used those Skymiles to purchase tickets for my husband and me…free flights!

We also each had previously received card_name cards, and a significant amount of Chase Ultimate Rewards saved. We transferred those to Marriott and stayed at a Marriott hotel for free while in Denver…free hotel!

Our two friends also flew in from Florida to spend the weekend with us. We stayed close to the Red Mountains, west of Denver, and went on many beautiful hikes. We also explored downtown restaurants and breweries!

We all enjoyed hiking in the Denver area on our points/miles trip.

Activities in Colorado

We absolutely loved Colorado, especially that time of year. Beautiful spring nature, warm temperatures – perfect for hiking. The landscape full of mountains and red rock was breathtaking. We ate at a delicious restaurant, Somebody People, all vegan, with fancy cuisine and an amazing atmosphere. We also found vegan soft-serve ice cream at Make Believe Bakery, an all-vegan bakery. It was super yummy; even my omnivore friends really enjoyed it.

Future Credit Card Points and Miles Plans

We are most looking forward to our future points and miles trips.  We have our honeymoon planned for March of next year in the Maldives! We are flying Qatar business class in lie-down flat seats for 14 hours. I scored these seats using points by transferring Capital One Venture Miles to British Airways and then joining that account with Qatar Airlines. I am so looking forward to that kind of luxury in the sky. It will be like nothing else we have ever experienced before. My only fear is becoming too spoiled and ruining all economy flying for me in the future! (note from THM: you will! 😜)

We will then stay six nights at Le Meridien Marriott resort in the Maldives. We transferred Chase Ultimate® Rewards to get these six nights for free.

We haven’t even gone on this trip yet, and I still cannot believe it is real. It is crazy to think about the expensive experience we will get for hundreds of dollars rather than tens of thousands! I am so excited to continue using credit card points and miles to save massive amounts of money while enabling my family to travel worldwide and enjoy this beautiful planet.

I am thankful to Alex, Pam, and Jess for sharing information on social media and in their email newsletter. I read it every week and always learn something new.
