Pam
Our latest reader success story is by Carolina. She and her husband took their four children to Maui thanks to points and miles. Here is her story!
We just went on a family vacation to Maui. We have four kids and I originally booked two nights at the Hyatt Regency Maui (which included two beds and a rollaway) and four nights at the Hyatt Residence Kaanapali Alii. This is a two-bedroom suite. That was the plan, but at the last minute, the Hyatt Residence Club became available so booked 5 nights there and one night at the Hyatt Regency.
My husband and I both signed up for the card_name. My husband also signed up for the card_name. Using points from all three cards we booked the Hyatt Regency at 25K points/night and the Kaanapali Alii at 48K points/night for a total of 242K points.
I booked our flights using points from two Southwest® credit cards my husband has (personal & business). We were able to get the Southwest® Companion Pass and one of the kids is a lap child. The total points for our flights were 109,840 points.
I also recently got the card_name and booked our rental car through their travel portal. I found that they had the lowest rates and I received the $300 travel credit which gave me the rental for a total of $254!
It took us about a year and a half to accumulate all of these points. We started signing up for cards during the pandemic so it was easy to stockpile them since we couldn’t really travel. I still have a lot to learn and I’ve definitely made some mistakes along the way but I’m so glad I decided to do this. Thank you so much for all of your help along the way.
Thanks for sharing your story, Carolina! We love the Hyatt Residence Club too!
