Everyone loves to use credit card points and miles for a stay in Hawaii so here is my Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa review. I recently used two 50K certificates + 6,000 points each night to book it for two nights. This resort is especially nice for families although the rooms have two doubles instead of queen beds. If you have small children this could work for you though.
If you don’t have Marriott points already, it might be worth it to buy a few thousand to top off Marriott certificates. I found some April dates for rooms for as little as 55K points.
The Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa is located near Lahaina on Kaanapali Beach which is a fun and lively location. It is at the end of the walking path and is an easy walk to The Whaler’s Village which is a fun place to shop with several restaurants.
The beach in front of the hotel is superb. It is large and located right next to Black Rock, an excellent place to snorkel or cliff dive.
You can walk along Kaanapali Beach on a great pedestrian pathway. There are also beach rentals available and tons of places to eat. Many snorkel tours begin their snorkeling tours with pickups on Kaanapali Beach. We’ve used Hula Girl and Trilogy in the past. During the whale migrations, it is really fun to go on one of these tours to see the breaching of the whales – such a thrill!
I was pleasantly surprised by the rooms because the outside exterior looked a little dated. The rooms were large with nice balconies. They were nicely decorated and the bathroom area was also large. All in all, I thought the rooms were great.
I loved the pool area! There was a nice adults-only area, a smaller family area, and a lazy river that everyone could enjoy. The landscape and foliage were beautiful! There was regular pool service for food but I can’t really speak to the quality of the food as we only got chips and salsa – hard to do that wrong!
The Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa is an excellent use of Marriott 50K certificates and then topping them off. We enjoyed our stay there and I would definitely return. We love every island in Hawaii and we love that we can use points to stay for free!
