Venture vs. Venture X Card

We get a lot of people wondering which of the Capital One Venture Cards they should apply for – the Venture Rewards Credit Card vs. Venture X Credit Card? Let’s compare the two today! Currently, the bonus offers are the same but that will not always be the case.

Annual Fees

The Capital One Venture Rewards Card has an annual fee of $95. The Capital One Venture X Card has an annual fee of $395. But that annual fee includes a $300 credit in the travel portal which brings the fee to $95. Additionally, when you renew the card, you get 10,000 Venture Miles every year so that brings the fee to nothing.

Winner: Capital One Venture X Card

Both cards earn 2 miles per dollar spent on all purchases. Easy peasy. It is clearly a draw in this department. Although a point can be made that Venture X earns more points on certain items that you book and pay for through their travel portal so it would be the winner.

Airport Lounge Access

The Capital One Venture Rewards Card will get you 2 Capital One Lounge passes a year. Unfortunately, right now there is only one open in Dallas with two lounges opening soon in Denver and Washington, Dulles. This may not even work for you though if you don’t live near these airports or visit them.

On the flip side, the Venture X Card gives you unlimited Capital One Lounge Passes for you and 2 guests and Priority Pass Lounge membership which is huge. You also get access to Plaza Premium Lounges.

Winner: Venture Rewards vs. Venture X? Capital One Venture X by a landslide.

Other Benefits

The Venture Rewards Card gives you a credit for TSA Precheck or Global Entry every four years. You also get rental car coverage when you use the card to pay for your rental. The coverage is secondary coverage within the United States and primary coverage internationally.

Meanwhile, the Venture X Card has the same TSA Precheck and Global Entry credit. The rental car coverage is primary coverage in the United States and abroad. Additionally, the card offers $800 cell phone protection if you pay your bill with this card. This coverage covers damage to your phone or if it is stolen. Here are some other benefits of this card.

Winner: Capital One Venture X

The Capital One Venture X Card has an excellent cell phone protection benefit.

Bottom Line

Venture Rewards vs. Venture X? Who wins? At first glance, it would seem that the Venture One Rewards Card would be the best card due to the low annual fee. However, when one reviews the benefits of both cards, the clear winner is the Capital One Venture X Card. Which one is going in your wallet?

I am planning a trip to Vietnam this summer and decided to try an use my points to get a good deal on perhaps a business or even first class tickets. After much research however i am still lost as to how the travel partners and transfer of miles works. Would you be able to shed some light on this topic?
