When planning a points and miles trip to Sydney, Australia, I knew I needed to stay at the Park Hyatt Sydney. No other place would do for that part of my stay. I used 40,000 Hyatt points per night for a room that runs over $1000/night in cash. That is a good redemption in my book! Here is my Park Hyatt Sydney review.
The Park Hyatt Sydney is located near the Sydney Opera House, so depending on your room, you can see it and the harbor. It is conveniently adjacent to the Circular Quay, where we took ferries to Manly Beach, our favorite beach. From the airport, the taxi costs about $80 (not cheap). I often use bank account bonuses to cover these extra travel costs.
It is located near The Rocks, one of Sydney’s oldest neighborhoods. This area is fun to wander through and has many restaurants nearby.
We were warmly greeted at check-in and informed that we had been upgraded to a deluxe room. We found a bottle of wine and some delicious chocolate with a nice note in the room.
Our room was beautiful and enormous. Like in Tokyo, we were blessed with heated toilet seats again! There was a small seating area and gorgeous views that we enjoyed immensely. We were there for Australian Days (like our 4th of July), and the harbor was hopping with activities, including fireworks.
Each morning, we got free Globalist breakfasts, which included a vast selection of fruit, pastries, cereals, and juices. Additionally, we could order off-the-menu egg and pancake dishes. The second morning we had an early morning tour of the Blue Mountains, so we ordered room service, which was also free.
On our first night, we ate in the Living Room at the hotel. We both enjoyed a really lovely shrimp pasta dish. I get a kick out of the fact that the Park Hyatt restaurants are named The Dining Room (where we had breakfast) and the Living Room!
Park Hyatt is known for its incredible service; this hotel was no exception. The concierge helped give us food options that were spot on. (Go to Lord Nelson’s, the cutest pub for fish and chips.) Everyone was happy, smiled and greeted us, and seemed to enjoy their jobs. It was also nice to easily understand the language! 😜
This room would have cost $1194. We also got free breakfasts for two worth about $50 each. I paid about $70 (prices below are in Australian dollars) for the one dinner we ate there. Oh yes, I almost forgot – AND 40,000 points a night. I earned these points by opening up Chase business cards, combining those points with my card_name, and then transferring the points to Hyatt! One signup bonus and I got 2 stays here with points to spare! Looking to rack up Hyatt points? Check out our Guide to More Hyatt Points.
The opportunity to stay in a luxury hotel like the Park Hyatt Sydney for literally nothing AND getting 2 fabulous breakfasts for free still blows my mind. I would heartily recommend this hotel to anyone going to Sydney and hope that I can return on another Australian visit.
The option to use Hyatt points earned from the World Of Hyatt Credit Card, card_name, or points transferred from Chase cards like the card_name make a stay like this a great luxury option that wouldn’t happen for me without points and miles.
