Applying Hyatt Guest of Honor and Suite Upgrade Awards

Pam

Applying Hyatt Guest of Honor (GOH) Awards  and Suite Upgrade Awards (SUAs) online just got easier! In the past, I had to go through my Hyatt concierge (which is something that’s only available after you’ve achieved Globalist status). Now I can do it myself! 🎉 Here’s what you need to know about applying Hyatt GOH Awards and SUAs online.

Hyatt Guest of Honor (GOH) Awards

You earn GOH Awards when you reach certain Milestone Rewards by earning 40 elite-night credits, 60 elite-night credits, and then more after each ten additional elite nights you earn.  (Except when hitting 100 elite-night credits—you get other Milestone Rewards for 100 nights but not a GOH Award.  Strange.)  Guest of Honor Awards allow recipients complimentary breakfasts, waived resort fees, late checkout, free parking, club lounge access (if the hotel has one), and even a complimentary upgraded room.  It’s like giving someone free temporary Globalist status, so it’s an amazing treat.

You can give a GOH Award to someone, and they can use it for up to a seven-night stay. These can be used for paid or points reservations.  What a great gift to a friend or family member!

Transferring Online

1. Sign in to your World of Hyatt account and go to My Account > Awards.

2.  Then choose the GOH Award you want to give someone. (Make sure you pay attention to the expiration dates! The recipient will need to use the GOH Award before that date.)

3. Pick “Gift Your Award.” You will then have to verify your membership with a code sent to your email and pick “Gift Your Award” again. The following screen will then be available for you to put in the recipient’s World of Hyatt membership number and last name. The GOH Award will immediately be sent.

Hyatt Suite Upgrade Awards

In the past, I had to ask my concierge to apply for an SUA for me because there was no way to do it online. But now I can do it myself, and I love that. Suite Upgrade Awards mean that I am guaranteed a suite, instead of crossing my fingers that I might be able to get one at check-in if any are available. I earn SUAs with the following Milestone Awards:

  • 2 SUAs with 50 elite-night stays
  • 2 SUAs with 60-elite night stays
  • 1 SUA with every 10 elite-night stays starting at 70

Applying Suite Upgrade Awards

1. Sign in to your World of Hyatt account and go to My Account > Awards.

2. Choose the SUA you want to use. You can give it to someone else or use it yourself! To give it to someone, you follow the same process as gifting a GOH Award.

This is where it gets good.  Let’s say that I am hoping to book a SUA for a stay at the The Cape, A Thompson Hotel in Cabo. I go to Hyatt’s website and pick that hotel and the dates I want to stay. I see that a SUA is available for me to book for my two nights there.

If I didn’t already have Globalist status, this step in the booking process is also where I could apply a GOH Award for myself or where my GOH Award recipient could apply one.  But keep in mind that if you don’t have Globalist status, you cannot apply a GOH Award and a SUA for yourself for the same stay—you have to pick one or the other.

Bottom Line

Being able to use and give away Hyatt GOH Awards and SUAs online makes life so much easier! I love that I can now bypass my Hyatt concierge to book my Suite Upgrade Awards.  Easy peasy, works for me!
