There are some recent changes to Hyatt’s loyalty program starting in 2024. While mostly positive, there is one not-so-positive change. Luckily, none of the changes impact Hyatt’s elite tiers or award chart.

 

Guest of Honor Changes

Currently: Globalists get unlimited Guest of Honor bookings.

Starting January 1, 2024: Guest of Honor is now a Milestone Reward. As it’s no longer a Globalist perk, Globalists will not get an unlimited number of Guest of Honor bookings. Current Globalists will receive five complimentary Guest of Honor Awards in their account in January 2024. These complimentary Guest of Honor Awards expire on February 28, 2025.

Globalists as of December 31, 2023 who gift or apply all of their Guest of Honor awards may then use the legacy Globalist Guest of Honor benefit by calling. The legacy Globalist Guest of Honor tier benefit will continue to apply to award stays only through February 28, 2025.

Currently: Guest of Honor can only be applied to award bookings.

Starting January 1, 2024: Guest of Honor can be applied to both cash and award bookings.

Currently: Guest of Honor can only be booked by calling.

Starting January 1, 2024: Guest of Honor can be booked online.

Currently: The member booking a Guest of Honor stay does not receive any elite nights.

Starting January 1, 2024: The member booking a Guest of Honor stay will receive one elite night per stay booked (not per night stayed).

 

Milestone Reward Changes

Milestone Rewards are based on the number of elite nights members stay in a single calendar year. The more you stay, the more rewards you earn! Here’s how the Milestone Rewards are changing:

Currently: Milestone Rewards cannot be gifted to other members.

Starting January 1, 2024: Milestone Rewards can be gifted to other members.

Currently: Milestone Rewards cap out at 100 elite nights/year.

Starting January 1, 2024: Milestone Rewards cap out at 150 elite nights/year.

30 Nights as of January 1, 2024: 1 Category 1-4 Free Night Award AND your choice of 2K Next Stay Award OR 2 Club Access Awards OR $25 Find Experience Credit

40 Nights Currently: 5K Bonus Points OR $100 Hyatt Gift Card OR $150 FIND Experience Credit

40 Nights as of January 1, 2024: 1 Guest of Honor Award AND your choice of 5K Bonus Points OR 1 Suite Upgrade Award OR $150 FIND Experience Credit

50 Nights Currently: 2 Suite Upgrade Awards

50 Nights as of January 1, 2024: 5K Bonus Points OR 2 Suite Upgrade Awards OR $150 FIND Experience Credit

60 Nights Currently: 1 Category 1-7 Free Night Award AND 2 Suite Upgrade Awards AND access to My Hyatt Concierge

60 Nights as of January 1, 2024: 2 Guest of Honor Awards AND 1 Category 1-7 Free Night Award AND 2 Suite Upgrade Awards AND access to My Hyatt Concierge

70, 80, 90, 100 Nights Currently: 10K Bonus Points or 1 Suite Upgrade Award

70, 80, 90 Nights as of January 1, 2024: 1 Guest of Honor Award AND your choice of 10K Bonus Points OR 1 Suite Upgrade Award OR $300 FIND Experience Credit

100 Nights as of January 1, 2024: 1 Category 1-7 Free Night Award AND your choice of 10K Bonus Points OR 1 Suite Upgrade Award OR 1 Miraval Extra Night Award

110, 120, 130, 140 Nights as of January 1, 2024: 1 Guest of Honor Award AND your choice of 10K Bonus Points OR 1 Suite Upgrade Award OR 1 Miraval Extra Night Award

150 Nights as of January 1, 2024: 1 Ultimate Free Night Award AND your choice of 10K Bonus Points OR 1 Suite Upgrade Award OR 1 Miraval Extra Night Award

 

 

Bottom Line

We’re sad to see the unlimited Guest of Honor Globalist perk go, but it’s likely a positive change for those who won’t achieve Globalist but can hit 40 elite nights in a year.

We’re also excited about the new options for Milestone Rewards and the fact that they’re now transferrable to other members (as current Globalists, the 2 Club Lounge Access Awards were always useless to us).
