We’ve got good news, and we’ve got bad news. The good news is that the Capital One Venture X business card is now available to the public. The card officially launched earlier this year, but up until this point, it has only been available via a Capital One Relationship Manager or business banker. The bad news is that the minimum spend requirement isn’t realistic for most. Here are the details…
When you apply and are approved for the Capital One Venture X business card, you’ll earn 150,000 Capital One miles after spending $30,000 in the first 3 months. Yikes! You can see why this card won’t be a good fit for many people.
As far as the benefits of the card go, it’s basically an exact copy of the personal Venture X card. You’ll get:
The annual fee is $395, which is more than offset by these benefits.
Historically, Capital One business cards have counted towards 5/24. Fortunately, the Venture X business card does NOT count towards 5/24. Having the personal Venture X card should not prevent you from being approved for the business version.
The Venture X business card is also a “pay-in-full” card. That means you must pay your statement balance in-full each month (but if you’re using credit card points and miles for travel, you should be doing this anyways)!
Hitting the first tier of the welcome offer will net you 210,000 Capital One miles (remember that you’ll earn 2x on the $30,000 minimum spend). That’s an incredible amount of miles from one welcome offer. If you have a business that has a lot of expenses, or if you’re looking for one main business card to put all of your expenses on without worrying about spend categories, this card could make a lot of sense for you. For most people, that $30,000 minimum spend is likely unrealistic.
If you’ve got a large amount of business expenses, the new Venture X business card will net you a ton of miles. For those who can’t spend $30,000 in 3 months, there are still some great alternatives. The Chase Ink business cards are some of our favorites—the minimum spend requirements are much lower, and they won’t count towards 5/24. Will you be applying for the Capital One Venture X business card?
