Friday Family Vacation to Florida

Pam

Sometimes, we get so caught up in international experiences that we forget there are amazing destinations right here in the United States.  One of my daughters has been taking her family to Florida almost yearly, and they have the BEST time. Let’s do a Friday Family Vacation to Florida this week!

My daughter, Kelly, loves the Seaside, Destin, and Panama City areas. She stayed at a Hyatt Place in Panama City this year for a couple of nights and thought it was great. Let’s head there.

Getting to Florida

Kelly used Southwest Rapid Rewards to get her family to Panama City. Be sure and check out their 30-day calendar to book the cheapest flights if you have flexibility in your dates.

If I go May 20-27, it would only be about 26K roundtrip!

If you have a family of four and can find good prices, you can fly for about 100K total. Even less if you have the Southwest® Companion Pass. You could use the welcome offer from any Chase card that earns Ultimate Rewards® or a Southwest credit card to do this.

Staying at the Hyatt Place

She usually stays in an Airbnb while in Florida, and you can certainly do that and then “erase” your cost if you book with a card_name or card_name. She did spend one night at the Hyatt Place Panama City Beach / Beachfront, though, and her youngest LOVED it.

It is located right on the beach, and they had so much fun building sand castles, burying each other, and playing in the water.

This hotel is a Category 5 hotel. With two queen beds and a sofa bed, it can fit a family of six and comes with free breakfasts! Talk about a money-saver!

Our family can stay here for 3-4 nights with just one credit card welcome offer. They can stay longer if P2 also gets the card.

My grandson had so much fun at the pool area and the beach!

Bottom Line

Friday Family Vacation to Florida is totally doable with 2-3 credit card welcome bonuse for your family. Start planning now to create those magical family memories on the beach!

Do you have a post on seaside Florida?

If you use points to pay for your stay do you still have to pay the resort fees? Or for parking?

Hi! This post was helpful! We love 30a area as well. I did have a question about the cards- if I’ve been a southwest rapid rewards premier cardholder since 2010 is there any opportunity available to receive any sign up bonuses at this point with this same card, or would I have to cancel and apply for another one?

    • Pam says:

You can only hold one personal Southwest card at a time, so you would need to cancel and apply for another now. You could get a SW business card while still retaining that card though.
