I’ve taken a fair amount of business class flights, but one airline I’d never flown on was Air Canada. Recently that changed, and here is my take on Air Canada business class. Did I love it? Would I fly them again?
My flight came about because of the need to help my daughter in London. This was last-minute, so I knew it would be harder to find business class seats for a good rate. I did find some on Air Canada from Calgary to Montreal and on to London Heathrow for 70K miles (which I was happy with). I transferred American Express Membership Rewards® to Air Canada to book.
I took a positioning flight from Denver to Calgary, staying overnight at the Marriott in the terminal. My flight left at 2:00 pm and was a four-hour flight to Montreal. This flight was in business, had lie-flat seats, and was quite comfortable. In fact, I felt like the footwell and the seat were wider than many, and I got a nice nap in. I was surprised they served a full meal with appetizers and dessert. And even more surprised that the meal was delicious! I had a chicken and rice pilaf dish with apples and carrots and it was so, so good. Air Canada was making a good first impression!
The seats were in a 1-2-1 configuration, and I had picked one on the far right side. I love it when I don’t have to sit by anyone and can enjoy my private “pod”. Prior to takeoff, I went to the bathroom and a teenage girl was boarding and oohing and ahhing over business class. She was asking her mom if they could sit there sometime—I wanted to tell her about points and miles! 😜
The crew was very attentive, and I enjoyed the flight very much. A basket of full-size candy bars and chips was near the galley for “anytime” snacking.
The plane I took to Montreal was the same plane I flew to London on, and in the same seat! This 6+ hour flight started at 11:00 at night, so I wanted to get in some sleep so I could handle the rest of my day in London. They provided a mattress pad, pillow, and blanket. The amenity kit (not present on flight #1) was filled with toiletries and the much-needed eye mask and earplugs.
My original plan was to forego dinner and just go to sleep, but the menu looked good, and they were presenting the courses all at once, so I opted for the beef filet and potatoes au gratin. I was glad I did because they were delicious! I then told the attendant not to wake me for breakfast so I could sleep longer.
I slept really, really well until about 30 minutes from landing—perfect!
Jess had told me that she’d heard mixed reviews about Air Canada. My take on Air Canada business class seats from Calgary-London was definitely positive. I would not hesitate to take the same flight again in the future!

I recently took my first Air Canada from Edi-YYZ, sadly only in economy, but I thoroughly enjoyed the flight. I won’t hesitate to book with them again.
