Today we are talking all about staying at the TWA Hotel at JFK Airport. Jess, Alex, and I stayed there about four nights apart. We had each traveled from Milan to JFK. Our arrival times were at 9:00 at night, and we decided to stay at the TWA Hotel the first night. Jess stayed before traveling home to Houston, and Alex and I stayed before moving on to the Park Hyatt New York City.
It cost us $392, but we could erase that purchase with the Capital One card’s purchase eraser feature since that is how I booked it.
Not only can you spend the night at the TWA hotel, but if you have a long layover, you can do a Daytripper stay of 4 hours or more from the hours of 6:00 am -8:00 pm. You will get access to a room and the rooftop pool (overlooking the runway) for $149 for 4 hours.
If you love the tv show Mad Men, you will love this hotel. It has a total 60’s vibe. While it’s kind of a basic hotel (not luxurious), it has a totally fun, campy feel. I really enjoyed checking it out and would totally stay again if I had a long layover in JFK, but it isn’t on my “must-do” again list.
Staying at the TWA Hotel at JFK was a fun “blast from the past”—I loved the music, the decor, and the atmosphere. If you ever have a long layover or need to stay overnight at JFK, consider staying at the TWA Hotel.
